We had a spectacular

first day in Paris!

Fresh off the airplane we took a walk along the Rue du Mail. A group of fabric clad lanterns lined  the street, representing each fabric house debuting their collections during

Deco-Off and Maison & Objet.

JAB ANSTOETZ  caught our eye

25-27 Rue du Mail, Paris

Last week in Paris there were myriad events, show houses to visit, antiques to see, booths and sites to check out showing the latest wares from the interior design industry.  First stop was a walk along the fabric street in Paris, the Rue du Mail, where all the fabric houses set up shop, offering visitors their newest collections stylized in pretty packages.  This is a decorator's dream to walk along a cobblestone street filled with fabric showrooms.

We found this lovely little patisserie and sampled a baguette and jam with French tea!

Valentine's Day came a little early for my husband when we picked up this pretty orange box of chocolates from Chocolats Rive Gauche to bring home.

We made our way over to visit with the team at JAB ANSTOETZ where we happily viewed sneak peeks from the three brands in their JAB family.

We ended a busy afternoon by meeting up with the lovely ladies from Viyet and friends who organized a quintessentially French dinner gathering. It was a positively wonderful first day in Paris, and now for the highlight and sneak peeks at some of our favorite fabrics from

JAB ANSTOETZ's spring collection:

1. Carlucci Di Chivasso, Atmosphere combines the quality of a high end, luxurious fabric with functionality. There are many elaborate Jacquards and rich velvets in the collection, and offered in new colors. The way these fabrics fall and feel to the touch is exquisite. This beautiful intricate small all-over design on the sofa above, Pistoia Velvet, is woven in a sophisticated satin weave. The pixelated design was inspired by menswear, specifically a gentleman's neck tie and handkerchief.

Scribble, Scream and Scope

inspired by architectural detailing with repetitive patterns, geometric and other decorative motifs, these velvets are graphic and rich.  With Jacquard ground and two colors woven into fabric, they are chunky and sophisticated.

We love the orange!

Victorious & Viceroy

a line of Jacquard wovens in a weight that is perfect for both upholstery and curtains.

More highlights from the collection:

Appearance These large Jacquard woven damask designs have a  washed feel, and they are offered in great colors.

Caroline Vaughn from the New York City showroom gave us a thorough tour of the JAB collection and Paris showroom, demonstrating  the plethora of color options!

2. Jab Anstoetz:

The almost-abstract animal prints offered by

JAB this spring are unusual and very luxurious, with an emphasis on LUXE. In dense velvets with alternating pile directions, subtle animal patterns with large repeats and velvet's resembling Astakhan fur patterns and ocelot skins, these fabrics are luxurious, beautiful to the touch and drape exceptionally well, and offered in a variety of colors. They set the trend for luxurious animal-inspired designs.

Claremont, a Lyonese velvet alternating monochrome and bicolor sections,

and offered in six colors.

Danieli,

small-patterned upholstery fabrics in many colorways.

3. Soleil Bleu:

The Ella pattern is offered in two colorways.

We loved the Flying to Montreux collection inspired from the Montreux Riviera area on Lake Geneva, a special place that has attracted artists and writers in search
of inspiration from nature.

The Cashmire (on sofa interior ) is an intricate printed
paisley velvet designed in rich color
combinations to be both beautiful
and functional, and available in six
color choices.

others from Soleil Bleu:

Prince is a special applied technique created using a hand held machine, and

available in six colorways.

Leila, an embroidered floral in a fine sateen ground 100% cotton, available in six
colorways.

We love Annecy, which is a small geometrical
pattern with satin yarn.

This is certainly an inundation of gorgeous quality fabrics from JAB, and please note many of these fabrics are available in the U.S.

Please stop back again

for more Paris Musings.

Happy Nesting
