The Aledo High School football team in Aledo, Texas, is off to a great start this season, sitting at 7-0. The team has been ranked No. 1 statewide in the Associated Press polls since Sept. 9, but not everyone in the area is pleased with how they’ve won.
Last Friday, the Aledo Bearcats took on Fort Worth Western Hills and beat them handily. In fact, the Bearcats topped the cougars 91-0, despite the fact that head coach Tim Buchanan pulled his starters on offense after 21 snaps, there was a running clock in the quarter and Aledo’s quarterbacks combined for just 10 pass attempts.
Either way, the score did not sit well with one Western Hills parent who filed a bullying report with the school district against the coach, according to NBC DFW.
“Never; I’ve never heard of a bullying report in a football game,” Buchanan told NBC DFW on Monday.
Buchanan also had sound reasoning for not telling his players to just go out and kneel the ball.
“To go out and tell your kids, ‘No, I don’t want you to play hard, because we’re ahead,’ that’s against every fundamental coaching strategy that you have,” he said.
The Aledo Independent School District will investigate the complaint against its football coaching staff.
