Thalmic Labs device named “Myo” has been causing a storm on Twitter, RSS feeds and forums worldwide.

An armband you wear and with a flick of a wrist, a tensed arm… a single motion can control movies, games, military drones, lights and computers… did I say Military Drones? Why Yes… Yes I did.

The Myo was shown off at CES and caused alot of interest as it naturally should as the device is being called by some the $150 Jedi wristband, what peaked peoples interest as of late though is three things:

Alex Kinsella joins Thalmic Labs

Plans for apps to come to android so devices can access the band and be used as an interface with their MYO … 10.2.1 + anyone?

Anyone can write for the Myo… Whilst it will not be open source until standards can be set… anyone can contribute.

Alex Kinsella’s last position was that of “Senior Strategic Account Manager” but he has been renown for acting PM for BlackBerry World, BBM and contributing to the BlackBerry Developer Relations Team. In short the man has an extensive knowledge on product management, you only have to read over his LinkedIn profile as confirmation.

It is a huge and unfortunate loss to BlackBerry.

Thalmic Labs Co-Founder Aaron Grant hinted that the Myo is not the only device in the works. Is Kinsella there to manage the Myo and/or future projects?
