Jaimie Krankel, a Notre Dame 7th grader, holds her award from Scholastic SCOPE magazine and the book she won as a result of her entry in the magazine’s Phone Manners Guide contest.

Congratulations to Notre Dame 7th-grader Jaimie Krankel, who was named a winner of Scholastic Inc. SCOPE magazine’s Phone Manners Guide contest.

Krankel’s phone guide also earned her a copy of the book, “Echo,” by Pam Muñoz Ryan.

“We loved your creative and artful guide to helping others improve their social etiquette when using technology,” Kristin Lewis, executive editor of SCOPE magazine, said to Krankel. “Your organization and clear presentation of information were both excellent. Great work!”

Kelly Patterson, a 7th grade teacher at Notre Dame, said all the 7th graders read an article about phone etiquette throughout the generations in the September issue of SCOPE. “The students then were challenged to create an etiquette guide for today's youth,” she said. "We're very proud of Jaimie."
