Recently went by a friend's shop from the local woodworking club and he showed me how to make my own acrylic pen blanks. I used pieces of Australian Mallee burl and acrylic. I think they should make some awesome pens.
Here are some photos of the blanks
All 4 I make
Individual photos.
Burls I used.
Materials used:
Molds and hardener
Silmar 41Clear Polyester Casting Resin
Just 2 oz of the resin, your choice of pigment, stir to blend the color into the resin. Then a few drops of hardener and stir to it starts to thicken. Pour into the mold. Should set up in 15-30 minutes, however it is recommended to let it sit for a few days to completely harden.
Should turn one of the blanks in the next week and will update the thread with photos.
