The complaint of Mr. Nichol C. Pasayan for disability benefits based on his employment contract was settled after the issues were submitted to conciliation-mediation on June 30, 2016. The conciliation-mediation proceedings took only six conferences to settle Mr. Pasayan’s complaint.
In the Branch’s report to Executive Director Shirley M. Pascual, Mr. Pasayan filed a notice to arbitrate against his manning agency, Leonis Navigation Company, Inc. before the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board-National Capital Region, alleging non-payment of his disability benefits, illness allowance and medical reimbursement.
Con-Med Estelita S. Bautista handled the complaint. After a series of conferences, Bautista was able to facilitate the settlement of the case on August 23, 2016. Pasayan received P2,053,890.00 as disability benefits.
Pasayan expressed his gratitude to the Branch for their prompt action to address his grievances.
ED Pascual commended Bautista for her efforts in facilitating the settlement of the complaint.
Pasayan held the position of a second mate on board MV Frontier Unity until his repatriation to the Philippines sometime last year due to illness.
