Youth on Course Online Auction Funds Soar

Youth on Course — the non-profit organization providing young people with access to life-changing opportunities through subsidized golf, high school employment opportunities and college scholarships – generated $94,846 this week via its annual online auction to support the nationally-expanding subsidized round program.

Items ranged from a South African Safari, to a round of golf with 2015 NBA Finals MVP Andre Iguodala, to stay-and-play packages at some of America’s top golf destinations. All the auction items were generously donated by charitable donors, golf courses, and corporations including JetBlue, Pebble Beach Company, and Mantis Collection. One hundred percent of the online auction profits to go directly to Youth on Course, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization.

Now serving roughly 20,000 members in 12 states, Youth on Course promises financially viable golf access in the form of greens fees for $5 or less at hundreds of courses. In larger markets, participants are also eligible for college scholarships, paid internships and caddie opportunities. Funds raised through the online auction allow Youth on Course to reimburse rounds, and support new regions.

“We’re sincerely humbled by the gracious, generous support of everyone who participated in the auction,” says Youth on Course Executive Director Adam Heieck. “These funds will enable us to continue this sustained momentum. It’s exhilarating to see how many people value growing the game through access and ensuring that every child in the country has the option to play golf at an affordable rate.”

Youth on Course saw record highs in participating states, scholarships awarded, rounds subsidized and course partners in 2016. The program has been endorsed by Tom Watson, Steph Curry, Kris Bryant, The Golf Channel and Golf Digest as an essential bridge between youth instruction and consistent play throughout adulthood. With an eye toward national availability, major markets across the United States are expected to welcome the program in the near future.
