GREENSBORO, N.C. — Novālent, the biotechnology engineering firm, promoted Mike Motta to chief commercial officer, the company said in a press release on Friday.

Motta, who most recently served as a vice president, joined Novālent earlier this year. He has spent more than 25 years in the antimicrobial and hygiene field in the food and beverage industry. He’s held leadership roles at Chemetall (BASF) and Diversey.

“I enjoy working with Mike and he’s exceptional in his role as a leader so this promotion is well-deserved. We’re going to be looking to him to help us identify and capitalize on emerging commercial strategies for the company,” CEO Kevin Parrish said in the release.

Novālent, a private equity-backed company, provides technology to protect against germs used by top companies, including PepsiCo, Sabra, Pilgrims and HanesBrands.

“I’m confident in our technology and its increasing role in antimicrobial and hygiene solutions for so many industries. Up until now, we didn’t necessarily need to think beyond healthcare and challenging industrial environments but our technology works to protect everyday places, too, and we’re happy to develop ways to make that happen so people feel safe being in public again,” Motta said.
