Las Vegas – The end of the school year brings one question to the minds of parents across the valley – how do I continue my child’s learning throughout the summer break? Vegas PBS offers access to a variety of TV, online and in-person opportunities to continue education in a fun and engaging way to prepare children for their next phase of learning.

To help parents engage with their children as never before, PBS KIDS has launched a new, free app: PBS KIDS Super Vision. Parents can access this tool from their mobile phones to see what their kids are watching, playing and learning on PBSKIDS.org. The Super Vision app enables parents to see remotely what their kids are learning in PBS KIDS games and videos, to manage their kids’ time online, and to build on that learning away from the screen through real-time updates, educational tips and activity ideas. The PBS KIDS Super Vision app is available for download on iTunes.

In addition, Vegas PBS will launch a new summer kids’ programming lineup. Geared towards children ages 6-12, the station will air back-to-back episodes every weekday of Curious George, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Arthur and Wild Kratts. Vegas PBS will also premiere Space Racers, a new animated series that follows young spaceship cadets. Young viewers will learn about the power of scientific investigation and observation, the wonders of space exploration, and the importance of working together, all with fun and engaging characters. For more information on the children’s programming air times, please visit www.VegasPBS.org.

In-person learning opportunities during the summer include Vegas PBS’ Ready To Learn literacy and math workshops at various libraries throughout Southern Nevada. Literacy workshops will introduce and reinforce “special words” highlighted in Martha Speaks as the families share books, talk and enjoy hands-on activities together. Math workshops will use lessons from Peg + Cat in conjunction with activities to enhance young children’s problem solving skills. Ready To Learn is also partnering with the Andson Foundation to offer the Martha Speaks Reading Buddies literacy enrichment program to children participating in YMCA summer programs.
