# Responsibilities

Job Summary:
The Sr. Director / VP Enterprise Architecture is responsible for the definition, communication and Governance of the Target Enterprise Architecture blueprint (including Principles, Standards, Reference Architecture Models, Patterns, Guidelines etc.). This requires the ability to facilitate architecture decisions on topics and gaps and sponsoring the development of common reusable enterprise IT assets for use across the full breadth of different business units within NBCUniversal.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Provides guidance to the organization in Enterprise Architecture principles, leads the organization in implementation of standard processes and procedures

* Develops an overall strategy for the group, including an appropriate organizational design, people strategy for the team and development of the platform for enterprise architecture tools and techniques

* Works closely with leadership in the development of the Global IT strategic plan

* Ensure compliance processes supporting NBCUniversal’s system applications, data integrity and IT operating controls

* Defines appropriate metrics to gauge success of department goals and service levels

* Responsible for overall recruitment, development and performance management of all direct reports

Specific Responsibilities:

* Responsible for the definition and communication of the Target Enterprise Architecture blueprint (including Principles, Standards, Reference Architecture Models, Patterns, Guidelines etc.)

* Facilitate architecture decisions on topics and gaps

* Development and support of Governance and Compliance processes

* Sponsor the development of common reusable enterprise IT assets for use across different business solutions.

* Review proposed technology platform changes for alignment and conformance with architectural guidance (blueprints, principles, etc.)

* Assess the efficiency and effectiveness of methods and practices across IT functional disciplines and drive continuous improvement

* Contribute to security and risk assessment activities

* Contribute to the ongoing refresh of the IT Strategy

* Contribute to the ongoing optimization of the staffing model through recommendations of in house, contractor and outsourced staffing models of IT functional disciplines
Business Insights and Leadership:

* Build strong relationships with cross functional team members and project sponsors

* Propose recommendations and utilize best practices to improve processes with a focus on control efficiency. Work closely with business partners to obtain buy in and assist the business in implementing proposed changes.

* Assist with the facilitatation of discussions with business owners and subject matter experts to gain a detailed understanding of business processes

People Development:

* Lead the design and implementation of career development plans for direct reports and team members

* Lead the design and implementation of a departmental roles career path with the Global IT organization

* Develop training programs to build competencies, link business and personal objectives, and foster inclusion and collaboration

* Provide guidance and leadership to all direct reports to ensure effective and efficient flow of work, and ensure all direct reports recognize their fundamental role in the operations of their department.

* Conduct annual performance appraisal to review direct reports’ work performance.

* Monitor the adherence of direct reports to IT’s guidelines, policies and procedures.

* Ensure effective departmental performance through the selection, development, deployment and motivation of staff.

# Qualifications/Requirements

* Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering or related field or equivalent experience required

* Extensive experience holding senior IT leadership positions within a global corporation

* Experience with The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) desirable

* Minimum of 10 years of related experience in technology architecture positions

* Strong broad-based architectural focus, technical vision and technical leadership skills

* Extensive experience developing architectural models, viewpoints and blueprints with depth in one or more of the subdisciplines of business architecture, application architecture, information architecture and technical architecture and breadth across all disciplines

* Knowledge of, and in depth experience with, more than one major IT discipline (e.g., distributed computing, networks, financial applications design and development, IT security and business recovery).

* Experience setting technical directions, coding standards, and performing code reviews

* Experience working with off-shore development teams

* Experience performing business systems analysis

* Demonstrated success in delivering projects on time, on budget and according to client expectations

* Strong project management, analytical, problem-solving, and decision making skills

* Knowledge of IT processes, general controls, project management and system development life cycles

* Excellent management and communication skills (verbal and written)

* Ability to collaborate with stakeholders – Business partners, IT project team members
