wo principals from the Northwest Independent School District were chosen to participate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s summer leadership program.

The principals, Eric Drewery, Ed.D., of Medlin Middle School, and Carri Eddy, Ed.D., of Eaton High School, were selected recently to participate in a summer leadership program at The Principal’s Center through the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Raise Your Hand Texas is a nonprofit organization that focuses on public education. It provides the opportunity for principals from all across the country to attend workshops and train with professionals with experience in education.

The organization is also covering all expenses for Drewery and Eddy to have the chance to partake in the activities. The two will be taking part in in the “Improving school: The Arts of Leadership” course at Harvard in which they will explore successful models for school improvement and understand how to implement curriculum innovation.

Drewery mentioned he “feels this opportunity will not only help me grow as a leader, but will provide me with additional knowledge and insights to support our students, staff and community as we work to make Medlin Middle School and Northwest ISD the best they can be.” when asked about being selected and said he “can’t wait to come back and share” what he learns.

The nonprofit group has chosen to sponsor over 90 principals from various schools around the country and has given more than 900 principals the opportunity to join others at Harvard in order to work on their dedication to continually improving public education, over the years.
