"Amen!" hundreds chanted outside of the San Bernardino Government Center Monday evening as multiple pastors spoke to a crowd of people.

County officials, faith and labor leaders organized a vigil Monday night for the 14 victims killed inside of the Inland Regional Center last Wednesday. "More than 20,000 county workers returned to work today," a spokesperson told NBC 4.

"We wanted them to know they're not alone."

A few miles away, a giant wooden cross stands in the middle of a makeshift memorial outside of the IRC. The memorial is growing by the day with notes, candles, and balloons.

"A lot of people are turning to prayer," said Pastor John Douthitt with Harvest Christian Ministries. "Some of them aren't religious at all," he added.

"I don't have answers to [their questions], but I can direct them to the one that does."

IRC member Ron Popollakof is not religious but agreed, "you have to have

a little bit of spirituality right now ..."
