Rain began to soak parts of the Bay Area on Saturday morning.
The North Bay, San Francisco and cities on the Peninsula saw some early morning shows, but forecasters expect heavier rain to develop between 9 and 11 a.m., becoming widespread by early afternoon.

The wet weather will continue to linger throughout the Bay Area through Saturday evening with more rain developing overnight.
Sunday’s best chance for rain looks to be between 6 and 9 a.m., leaving behind mostly cloudy skies by the evening.

San Francisco and the North Bay are looking at about 1.25 inches of rain over the weekend while 0.5 inches are likely in the South Bay, forecasters say.
A wind advisory will be in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday across the majority of the Bay Area, including San Francisco, the Peninsula coast, Santa Clara Valley, the East Bay and the Santa Cruz mountains. South winds could reach 20 to 30 mph and gusts 45 mph.

A high surf advisory is also in effect through 3 p.m. Sunday.
Meanwhile, a winter weather advisory is in place in the Sierra Nevadas through 4 p.m. Sunday. Forecasters say 4 to 10 feet of snow could fall at about 7,000 feet.
As of Friday, snow blanketed the slopes of the Sierras, and skiers and resorts alike were eagerly anticipating the start of the ski season.
Marcie Bradley of Northstar California Resort in Truckee said, "Mother Nature has been super good to us" this season, with dropping temperatures and increased moisture.
Northern California's resorts will be operating in declining drought conditions for the first time in years, with some located in counties where the drought has been declared over altogether.
