SPRINGFIELD, OHIO (WDTN) –  A school nurse has been arrested after medication is discovered missing from a Clark County school.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office says Amy Baumgardner, 48 was arrested for theft of a controlled substance September 15. Baumgardner is a nurse at Reid Middle School and is believed to have stolen prescription medication from the nursing office inside the school.

An investigation began Thursday after deputies were called to Reid Middle School after a report of missing medication. An immediate inventory of the medication was conducted by deputies, detectives and school administrators after the report was made and confirmed drugs were missing.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the investigation found that Baumgardner had taken the drugs for personal use.

Baumgardner was booked into the Clark County Jail and will appear in Clark County Municipal Court Monday. The case will be presented to a grand jury at a later date.

The investigation into the stolen medication is ongoing.
