RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Raleigh police are investigating a shooting at an apartment complex that occurred Friday morning.

Police are still on scene at the Walnut Woods Apartments complex in the 3400 block of Middle Branch Road. According to police, officers were dispatched to the area at 8:15 a.m. in response to a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who had been shot. He was transported to WakeMed.

Middle Branch Road has been shut down as police investigate. Crime scene tape has closed off the apartment complex and the nearby road.

One witness, Tiffany Johnson, told CBS North Carolina that she heard as many as nine gunshots Friday morning.

“It was a lot of them rapidly like ‘pow, pow, pow,'” she said.

Johnson said she told her daughter she couldn’t go outside because of the gunshots. She said she’s now on edge because several kids live in the neighborhood, including two of her own, and the gunshots rang out right around the time children are normally waiting at the bus stop.

Two people have been arrested at the scene so far on Friday, but police would not say if the arrests were made in connection with the shooting or not.

At least two cars at the apartment complex had their windows hit by bullets.

Police did not release the identity or condition of the man who was shot.
