CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A woman was killed in a double shooting in south Charlotte early Monday morning, shutting down part of Highway 51 for hours as detectives investigated.
Two women were found shot in a crashed car on Pineville-Matthews Road at Baybrook Lane around 2:55 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say.
Officers were initially called to the area for a single-vehicle crash, when they found the two women inside. Medic pronounced the driver dead on scene. The other woman in the car went to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries.
Police say the act is not random. Homicide detectives are looking for any possible witnesses.
Pineville-Matthews Road was shut down between Carmel Road and Baybrook Lane until after 10 a.m.
No names have been released.
