CLAYTON, N.C. (WNCN) — Clayton Police are investigating a possible meth lab that was discovered after a woman went to a hospital Saturday morning, officials say.
Police have surrounded a home in the 900 block of Hobbs Street with crime scene tape, according to Clayton Town spokeswoman Stacy Beard.
The incident stemmed from a woman’s visit around 7 a.m. Saturday to Johnston Health Clayton, Beard said.
The woman, who had two men with her at the time, apparently drank a substance that had some kind of chemicals in it, according to Beard.
Police officers went to the hospital to investigate and then to the house on Hobbs Street in Clayton.
Beard said that when officers got to the home they saw evidence of a possible meth lab.
The home has been cordoned off, but there wasn’t a need to evacuate anyone in the neighborhood.
No names or any possible charges have been released.
Beard said that the woman, who was eventually transported to Duke Hospital, is expected to be OK.
The NC State Bureau of Investigation has been notified.
