Police are investigating a report of shots fired at Princeton University.

According to a University spokesperson, gunshots were reported at Nassau Hall on the school's campus shortly before 8 p.m.

“Princeton Police have set up a close-in perimeter around Nassau Hall, and University Public Safety officers are at a wider perimeter,” the spokesperson wrote on the school’s Twitter page.

No injuries have been reported. Officers from the University's Department of Public Safety, Princeton Police Department and the Mercer County Sheriff's Office are currently investigating.

The University also sent out an emergency alert informing students and staff and asking them to stay away from the area

Built in 1756, Nassau Hall is the oldest building on the school's campus and was designated a "National Historic Landmark." It served as the meeting place for several leaders during the Revolutionary War, including George Washington.

Nassau Hall is located on the northern edge of the campus, close to where the university meets the town of Princeton.
