NAVCA launched a revised version of its Quality Award at their Chief Officers conference (CORE2013) in York (17 & 18 September). The Quality Award is a national kitemark allowing NAVCA members to demonstrate they deliver excellent local infrastructure services. Since its introduction in 2006, over 90 NAVCA members have undergone a rigorous assessment to gain the award and prove that they are a leading provider of services to local charities and community groups. It has also allowed funders to know that they are getting great value for their money.

Having remained largely unchanged since 2006, NAVCA has launched the revised Quality Award to reflect political and social change which ensures the award remains relevant and fit for purpose. The Quality Award is still based around nationally-agreed performance standards for voluntary sector infrastructure services, four standards supported by seventeen outcomes. The changes increase the focus on outcomes and the collects evidence in a way that will help members with funding and tender applications. What has not changed is that the award remains as rigorous as ever.

Joe Irvin, Chief Executive of NAVCA said;
“NAVCA members achieve extraordinary outcomes on a daily basis. The Quality Award lets members demonstrate the impact they make as well as reassuring users and funders. As the only national mark of quality for local infrastructure it was important to make these changes and ensure it remains relevant for funders, users of infrastructure and our members. Getting and retaining the Quality Award needs to remain a goal for all members”

Sam Younger, Chief Executive of the Charity Commission, said;
“Quality systems like NAVCA’s Quality Award are playing an increasingly significant role in providing assurance of performance – in the first place to the organisations themselves, but also to funders, service commissioners and users.”
