Blood Oozes from the Eyes of Mother Mary’s Statue

A statue of Mother Mary with tears of blood is attracting thousands of Christians and people of other Faiths in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

The event has occurred in the community chapel of the CMI Bhavan of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) in Mariam Nagar, 14 July.

The event was first noticed by a maid called Sunita who works in the institution on Saturday around 11. 30 am when she came to clean the chapel.

“Today when I was about to wipe and clean the statue of Mother Mary with a cloth I found tears of blood rolling from Mother Mary’s eyes. I cried aloud. I couldn’t believe my eyes so I rubbed the blood from the statue but the flow continued” Sunitha said.

The priest in charge of the house, Fr. Joy Kizhakkayil CMI, said, “As I came inside the chapel I could see Sunitha holding the statue and shivering, praying and crying aloud to Mother Mary”.

Ms. Mary, a Senior staff nurse at New Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)i, who was present in the monastery when the event took place said, she could see the tears of blood of Mary and she touched it with reverence and fear.

“The news spread quickly and soon people started rushing to the chapel” said Brother George CMI. Some 65 catholic families living in the surrounding areas also rushed to see the miracle. By evening some three thousand people had visited the statue. “Due to the rush the police had to be called”, he added.

Another flow of blood was seen Sunday when Fr. Kizhakkayil came to the chapel to offer the Holy Mass.

“Now the flow was heavy and the blood was falling on the table where the statue was kept,” he said.

He said that they have also took the blood samples and got it tested at the St. Joseph Hospital nearby.

“The result has shown that the blood group is B+ve,” he added.

Visitors and faithful are bringing and keeping the rosary on the blood clotted statue and praying rosaries continuously in the chapel.

The event took place at the personal chapel of CMI Bhavan where at present a new wing for the Christ College, Bangalore is under construction. The statue was bought from St. Paul’s Centre, New Delhi few months ago. - cbci

Dozens gather to pray at Mother Mary statue they say is bleeding

Believers are flocking to this Baton Rouge neighborhood to see a statue of Mother Mary with their own eyes. You see, everyone here believes the statue is bleeding.

Hai Nguyen is the owner. His daughter translated for him and says he was doing lawn work when the unexpected happened.

"He looked up and saw blood coming down."

Blood dripping from the side of Mary's face, and the word spread quickly.

"He don't know how to explain it. He just know that maybe God sent a message through Mary."

One faithful says he has seen these manifestations before.

"Was because of the hard heartedness of her children. They wanted to go and do their own will and straying away from God and the sacraments of the church."

We took the question to a religious studies professor at LSU.

"One way to think about it is to see how this is real for those who devote themselves to Mary, and what that means to them as a kind of prayerful way to contemplate the role of Mary in their lives, or Jesus in their lives. And, for many people, it's empowering and it's a way to return to a devotion."

And for those visiting the statue, seeing is believing.

Local news station WBRZ reports priests have collected samples of the substance on the statue's face and plan to get it tested. - wtsp

The Owl Tree

One day in October, 1827, Rev. Charles Sharply rode into Alfred, Maine, and held service in the meeting-house. After the sermon he announced that he was going to Waterborough to preach, and that on his circuit he had collected two hundred and seventy dollars to help build a church in that village. Would not his hearers add to that sum? They would and did, and that evening the parson rode away with over three hundred dollars in his saddlebags. He never appeared in Waterborough. Some of the country people gave tongue to their fear that the possession of the money had made him forget his sacred calling and that he had fled the State.

On the morning after his disappearance, however, Deacon Dickerman appeared in Alfred riding on a horse that was declared to be the minister's, until the tavern hostler affirmed that the minister's horse had a white star on forehead and breast, whereas this horse was all black. The deacon said that he found the horse grazing in his yard at daybreak, and that he would give it to whoever could prove it to be his property. Nobody appeared to demand it, and people soon forgot that it was not his. He extended his business at about that time and prospered; he became a rich man for a little place; though, as his wealth increased, he became morose and averse to company.

One day a rumor went around that a belated traveller had seen a misty thing under "the owl tree" at a turn of a road where owls were hooting, and that it took on a strange likeness to the missing clergyman. Dickerman paled when he heard this story, but he shook his head and muttered of the folly of listening to boy nonsense. Ten years had gone by-during that time the boys had avoided the owl tree after dark—when a clergyman of the neighborhood was hastily summoned to see Mr. Dickerman, who was said to be suffering from overwork. He found the deacon in his house alone, pacing the floor, his dress disordered, his cheek hectic.

"I have not long to live," said he, "nor would I live longer if I could. I am haunted day and night, and there is no peace, no rest for me on earth. They say that Sharply's spirit has appeared at the owl tree. Well, his body lies there. They accused me of taking his horse. It is true. A little black dye on his head and breast was all that was needed to deceive them. Pray for me, for I fear my soul is lost. I killed Sharply." The clergyman recoiled. "I killed him," the wretched man went on, "for the money that he had. The devil prospered me with it. In my will I leave two thousand dollars to his widow and five thousand dollars to the church he was collecting for. Will there be mercy for me there? I dare not think it. Go and pray for me." The clergyman hastened away, but was hardly outside the door when the report of a pistol brought him back. Dickerman lay dead on the floor. Sharply's body was exhumed from the shade of the owl tree, and the spot was never haunted after. - Myths and Legends of Our Own Land (Dodo Press)

Message From The Other Side

In January 1982, I was living in Berkeley, Calif., and a man I was seeing committed suicide. He was living in a house with my elderly cousin, Homer, and several of my friends when this happened. He shot himself with my Homer's 38. As Homer was 80 years old and in poor health, I spoke frankly with him about dying, and asked if he would relay anything back to me about our deceased friend. He assured me he would if he could.

The following June, Homer died of emphysema. A few weeks after he died, I was at home in my room with the man I had started dating in March. It was about three in the morning and we were just sitting up reading when I noticed two people standing in the corner of the room. I was riveted and didn't even turn my head as I said to my boyfriend, "Phillip, look at the corner and tell me what you see." "Why, that's Homer and I don't recognize the tall guy with him." When I asked him to describe the tall guy, my boyfriend described exactly what I was seeing. It was Homer and my former boyfriend that both of us saw. Though Phillip had known Homer, he had never met my previous boyfriend, nor had he seen any photos of him. To both of us the ghosts appeared translucent and they didn't speak a word. They just stood there looking at us for several minutes. I was dumbfounded, and when I recovered my wits I made some wisecrack about their timing. They were there and then they were not. I don't recall them fading, just suddenly being gone.

Homer and I shared a house for two years and had quite a few discussions about ghosts and poltergeists. We had a ghost who played with the light switches and messed with my stereo, to the point where I taped the switches on and taped the tone arm in its rest every night. Every morning I found the switch turned off and the tone arm on the base of the turntable. I thought he was doing it to get my goat, but eventually became convinced that he was not. I feel very grateful to Homer for coming back in such a way that I would not doubt my sanity at seeing him. And he answered a question about what happens to folks who commit suicide. Unless Homer was also visiting from Hell, my friend didn't go there. I think the 'Powers That Be' must have much more compassion than religions give them credit for. - Elizabeth K.
