Sherri Shepherd

When Elisabeth Hasselbeck left The View, the American talk show broadcast on ABC, viewers and other actors on the show may have had a bit of a shock. However, Sherri Shepherd has just let the cat out of the bag by confirming that Jenny McCarthy will be joining them on the show to replace Hasselbeck.

Hasselbeck left The View, an Emmy-award winning show that claims to provide a female perspective on the day’s headlines and other contemporary topics, including food, fashion and health, to start on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends” later this fall. It’s not known if it was supposed to be kept a secret but Shepherd spilled the beans about Jenny McCarthy joining The View when she told reporters that caught up with her at Los Angeles International Airport that she was “excited” about McCarthy joining the team.

Shepherd went on to say that she thought McCarthy was fearless and amazing. She added that she thought McCarthy would cause “some stuff” on the show and she was excited to be working with her but she was sad to see Hasselbeck go because she had worked with her for nearly eight years. ABC network have declined to confirm whether McCarthy will be joining The View officially but they must be experiencing major shakeups because Joy Behar will also be leaving the show and Barbara Walters said that she will retire in 2014.

The View debuted in 1997 on ABC and is the fourth longest running national daytime talk show in history, behind The Phil Donahue Show, Live with Kelly and Michael and the Oprah Winfrey Show. Barbara Walter and Bill Geddie created The View and serve as its executive producers. The show features a panel of women as co-hosts with Whoopi Goldberg as moderator and they mostly discuss current issues and news items that range from social and political issues to tabloid headlines and celebrity news.

Jennifer Ann McCarthy is a model, actress, author and activist. In 1993 she began her career as a nude model for Playboy magazine and was named their Playmate of the Year some years later. McCarthy has written books about parenting and is an activist who promotes research into environmental causes and alternative biomedical treatments for autism.

McCarthy’s son suffered from autism and was cured with the help of chelation therapy, according to McCarthy. She claims that vaccines cause autism but the medical community has apparently proven her theory wrong.
