What colleges offer certification programs in Holistic Medicine?
I am interested in obtaining a certification in holistic medicine, but I don’t want to be certified through some random online company like ed2go.com or distance-education.com. What colleges offer certifications in the holistic medicine field?

James asks…
Are vitamin supplements considered holistic medicine?
A regular multivitamin, is it considered a type of holistic medicine? I know the whole approach of Holism is to use natural methods that promote overall health, including teas & etc. But I can’t seem to find a clear yes or no answer to this question.
To be specific, would “One A Day” multivitamin be considered holistic?
vti answers:
The term “holistic” means that it treats the whole person as opposed to the conventional medical view of just treating a single symptom or condition with suppressive drugs without regard for the rest of the organism –eg. Blood pressure drugs damage your kidneys. The holistic view is that whatever medical treatment is used it cannot sacrifice some other part of the organism in the process. Holistic medical practitioners view the concept of “Do no harm” in it’s most broadbased sense.
Vitamins are holistic in that they support and enhance the entire being. More particularly, they are part of orthomolecular medicine.
The oneaday brand vitamins are cheap synthetics — you should use whole food/natural source vitamins. They’re more expensive but you get what you pay for.
Mary asks…
Is there any natural (holistic) supplements I can use to help lower my blood pressure?
I really don’t like taking prescription medication, so along with diet and exercise, is there any type of natural herbs or supplements I can take to help lower my blood pressure? I believe in organic/holistic medicine…anything like certain herbs like garlic, cinnamon, or any kind of vitamin supplements or anything?

If you are interested in a 100% natural whole food approach, I highly recommend ViaViente. High blood pressure runs in my husband’s family. He tried dietary changes, high-cardio workouts, but nothing seemed to work. He was getting prescribed medications but it didn’t sit well with him that he is only 38 and would have to take hi BP meds. So, his personal trainer/nutritionist and wife (who is a doctor), turned him on to ViaViente (which they recommend to all their clients/patients who are interested in natural approaches to combat nearly any health ailment imaginable). After 3 weeks, his blood pressure went from 140+ to 117. It has been 3 months now and it is at a stable 110.
I know a network of trainers, nutritionists, doctors, physical therapists and herbalists who highly recommend this product. It has also helped me with my lifelong allergy problem (I no longer take any meds) and my kids have not had a drop of Motrin or Tylenol since they’ve been drinking this juice (I used to feel like I was drugging my kids because they used to get sick so often). My family loves it and we highly recommend it for preventative health, maintenance…your body just operates at an optimal level with ViaViente added to your diet. 4 ounces a day is equivalent to 20 servings of fruits and vegetables.
You are welcome to contact me directly and I can answer additional questions you may have. I did quite a bit of research on the product and it’s nearest competitors.
Thomas asks…
Do you believe in holistic medicine and that all natural stuff?
If so….. WHY
i think any holistic medicine that has ever “worked” for me was merely placebo effect
I dont believe in this witch craft
vti answers:
No. I’m quite familiar with the field, as I’ve had a special interest in medical fraud and quackery since my early days in law school.
Maria asks…
What kind of schooling for alternative medicine?
What are some occupations and the schooling you need for alternative medications? Pretty much anything from chiropractor to acupuncture to nutritionist to holistic medicine. I want to help people as a career and I’m a little bit hippy. So if you had any info on degree programs I would really appreciate it thank you!

Your best two choices may be either a Doctor of Chiropractic (licensed in all 50 states), or a Naturopathic Physician (licensed in about a dozen states).
Here is a link to a list of Chiropractic Colleges.

Here is a list of accredited Naturopathic Colleges. There are unaccredited naturopathic schools, you need to avoid them.
