Hearts, flowers, candies, these are just a few of the things we give one another to show our love. Whether you are celebrating your next Valentine's day, throwing your friend an amazing bridal shower, or just surprising a certain someone with a little treat, fizzing bath bombs are a fun alternative to the usual edible accouterments.
These beauties were formulated and constructed by our resident bath bomb specialist, Kelly. If you've ever called our office you may have spoken with Kelly. She's one of the amazing people who man our Customer Care desk. In addition to being a valued member of our team at From Nature With Love and Natural Sourcing, Kelly also makes and sells her own line of soaps through Sunnypatch Soapworks, Etc!
In short, our dear Kelly is a treasure and I'm thrilled that she is making her Natural Beauty Workshop debut today.
These gorgeous fizzing bath treats are scented with our Wild Rose Plant-Based Fragrance Oil, but feel free to substitute that ingredient with another Plant-Based Fragrance Oil, Essential Oil, or traditional Fragrance Oil. Some of our favorites for this recipe are Geranium, Cardamom & Primrose, Cherry, Raspberry Truffles, and Pink VS Type.
Kelly used traditional bath bomb molds and heart-shaped cookie cutters to create these fizzies. Try experimenting with other simple shapes like flowers, circles, and stars. Another way to make this recipe your own is by swapping out the candy sprinkle topping for dried herbs, flower petals, or our Himalayan Pink Salt.
Candy Heart Bath Fizzies
Makes about four 4-oz. (medium-sized) bath fizzies
Ingredients
1 cup (240 g) Baking Soda
1/2 cup (120 g) Citric Acid
1 tablespoon (15 g) Sea Salt, Fine
1 teaspoon (5 g) Rose Clay
1 tablespoon (15 ml) Meadowfoam Seed Oil
1 tablespoon (15 ml) Cocoa Butter Pure Prime Pressed
.40 ounce (12 ml) Plant-Based Wild Rose Fragrance Oil
.10 ounce (3 ml) Witch Hazel (plus extra to spritz, if needed)
2 tablespoons Candy Sprinkles
Directions
Pulse the Citric Acid in a grinder or food processor repeatedly until it becomes a fine powder.
Sift together the Citric Acid and Baking Soda - breaking up any clumps.
Combine Baking Soda, Citric Acid, Rose Clay and Sea Salt together in a large mixing bowl and whisk until thoroughly mixed.
Melt Cocoa Butter in a double boiler, then combine it with the Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Plant-Based Fragrance Oil, and Witch Hazel. Mix well.
Slowly and steadily drizzle wet ingredients into dry ingredients with one hand, as you mix continuously with the other. Mix very well until the consistency of wet sand.
Try packing the powder firmly into a mold. If it is too loose or dry, use a sprayer bottle to spritz 3 or 4 times with Witch Hazel and continue to mix.
Add a pinch of candy sprinkles to the bottom of your mold, then pack your molds firmly with the powdered bath fizzie mixture. Gently tap the fizzies from their molds and line them up on wax paper or freezer paper to dry.
Move your fizzies to a cool, dry place, cover them with a clean towel and let dry for up to twenty four hours (or at least overnight).
Usage & Packaging
It’s important to keep your fizzies away from moisture and humidity so we recommend packaging them tightly in cellophane or plastic wrap as soon as they are finished drying.
The wrapped fizzies can be packaged in Small Cello Bags with ribbons, tags, and confetti to make them look extra cute.
To use, simply drop one fizzie into your bath water and enjoy the scent and fizzing bubbles.
Pro Tip: Try substituting .10 ounces of Polysorbate 20 for the .10 oz Witch Hazel to avoid a color ring around the tub, and to better disperse the color and oil in the water.
