Embarcadero Technologies is now promoting its “Cool App” contest, a competition which awards prizes and showcases new applications built with Embarcadero software development products.
The company, recently purchased by IDERA, is a leading provider of software solutions for application development.
According to an emailed statement, the first contest winner has been announced. Called “1Password,” it’s a premier password and identity manager built on Embarcadero Delphi (which runs on millions of desktops and mobile devices worldwide).
Embarcadero’s Cool App contest is open to business or consumer applications across all industries using any type of tool developers can build with RAD Studio, Delphi or C++Builder.
“Qualifying apps can use VCL, FireMonkey, DataSnap, EMS, FireDAC, InterBase and any other components, libraries, services, sites, infrastructures, APIs, or devices. Embarcadero will award Cool App contest winners $2,000 that can be used toward the purchase of Embarcadero products. In addition, the company will highlight winning submissions on its YouTube channel.”
“We’re proud that our products are being used to build such a diversity of amazing apps, and we congratulate 1Password on winning our first Cool App award,” said Michael Swindell, senior vice president of marketing and product management at Embarcadero. “At Embarcadero, we support the development of all types of applications – desktop, mobile, server, cloud, personal, professional, industrial – and we look forward to seeing many of the cool apps our community members have built through this contest.”
Used by millions since its inception in 2009, 1Password keeps people’s digital life secure and always available, safe behind one unique password.
“It’s a real honor to be selected as the first winner of Embarcadero’s Cool App contest, and I hope to be considered again for other Delphi apps in the future,” said 1Password developer Stefan van As. “While I can read almost every computer language, I find myself to be most productive writing Delphi code. Delphi apps are fast, efficient, self-contained, and they have a relatively small footprint.”
