The Department of Psychology at San Diego State University invites applications for three tenure-track positions. For all positions, candidates must hold a PhD in a domain of Psychology or allied discipline. Candidates should have a strong record of research productivity and demonstrated potential for extramural funding and teaching effectiveness. They would be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses, mentor undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students, and engage in department, college, and university-level service activities. The Psychology Department hasan APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical psychology offered jointly with the Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, University of California, San Diego, and its faculty are affiliated with a range of doctoral programs throughout the university including programs in Public Health, Language and Communicative Disorders, and Computational Sciences, as well as the Biomedical Informatics Research Center. The Psychology Department also has an MA program with research areas that include behavioral and cognitive neuroscience, developmental psychology, learning and cognition, physical and/or mental health research, and social/personality psychology; an MS program in applied psychology with emphases in industrial/organizational and program evaluation;and a large and diverse population of undergraduate majors. Human Neurogenetics: We seek an individual who studies the links between genes, brain, and behavior, with focus on brain-based disorders. Candidates may hold a PhD in a discipline other than Psychology if appropriate for the position (e.g., Behavioral Genetics). Applicants combining genetic and neuroscience techniques (such as imaging genetics) are encouraged. Prevention-to-Intervention Health Science: This position will complement existing departmental strengths in translational health science. We seek an individual with an established translational research program focused on prevention and/or evidence-based treatment of major chronic conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, rheumatic diseases, or other aspects of physical health.
