Research Assistant Professor- Doctor of Behavioral Health, Arizona State

The Doctor of Behavioral Health program, in the College of Health Solutions

at Arizona State University, is seeking a faculty member at the rank of

Research Assistant Professor in the area of integrated health service research,

health information, and/or public health.  The Doctor of Behavioral Health

(DBH) is an applied clinical degree. However, a foundation of the program

is the use of outcomes assessment in clinical settings to evaluate achievement

of the health care reform’s “Triple Aim” of improved patient experience

of care, population health management, and improved cost of care. This

position will provide leadership in the development of an applied clinical

research program as a component of the DBH.

Among the responsibilities of this position will be to refine and further

an integrated care research program.  Current resources include existing DBH

student intern outcome metrics and emerging collaborations with integrated

care clinic partners in the community. The successful applicant will be

expected to develop a national research involvement in emerging integrated

care research.  Another key responsibility is to identify and successfully

apply for research funding (state and federal grants, foundations, etc.).

Other areas of responsibility include teaching the program’s current

culminating project course and consulting with students regarding project

methodology, contributing to program development and evaluation, and service

to the College and University.  Candidates will be expected to take part

in interdisciplinary research among academic departments within the College,

University, and/or partners outside the University.  Applicants must present

evidence of quantitative and qualitative research methods and analyses,

grant writing experience, and have a demonstrated interest in integrated

primary care, electronic health records, health outcomes, health economics,

health policy, and/or healthcare management

The College of Health Solutions (CHS) at Arizona State University was launched

in May 2012 and is focused on producing lifetime learners in health and

health care who are prepared to think critically and succeed in any situation.

We ensure a high quality education, a focus on inter-professionalism and

exposure to real-life experiences working with world-renowned health faculty

experts and organizations such as Banner Health, Barrow Neurological

Institute, Mayo Clinic, Mountain Park Community Health Centers, and the

Wesley Clinic in an effort to reach more people and achieve greater outcomes.

CHS includes the following academic units:  School of Nutrition and Health

Promotion, School for the Science of Health Care Delivery, Department of

Biomedical Informatics, Department of Speech and Hearing Science, and Doctor

of Behavioral Health Program.   CHS faculty work closely with researchers

in other units such as the College of Nursing & Health Innovation, the School

of Social Work, and a variety of ASU research centers to develop interdisciplinary

research projects.

Required Qualifications

•  Earned doctorate (or completed by December 2014) in psychology, health

services research, public health or related disciplines.

•  Record of relevant research and grant writing appropriate to rank.

Desired Qualifications

•  Demonstrated interest in integrated primary care and patient reported

outcomes, and one or more of the following areas:  health economics and

public policy, and/or organizational behavior.

•  Demonstrated track record of a program of research leading to external

funding as an independent investigator

•  Experience in health related cost analysis (e.g., cost, cost-benefit,

or return on investment analysis).

•  Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff.

•  Demonstrated ability to work effectively with community partners, such

as ACO’s, large health systems, local and state health departments.

•  Demonstrated experience in both quantitative and qualitative research

methods

•  Familiar with Electronic Medical Records and analysis of large data

sets
