Q & A Highlights from The Expert ON Purpose Session With Nicole

Q:  What positive effect will this information have on a growing non-profit?

A:   Great question, here is the idea…it’s not about “If” you should do social media, it’s about “When”. It’s about how good you “do” social media and about what you’re conveying. I’m not sure about the question about what positive effect social media will bring;  if you believe you have something positive to offer, then the effect is going to be positive. It’s not the platform that makes it positive or negative, it’s the message conveyed to your audience.

Q: When setting out to use a FB page as part of your marketing strategy, what order do you do things ? Do you set up websites etc first, or do everything from inside FB first and then expand from there ?

A:  Figure out your WHY. Why are you doing this on Facebook and WHAT do you want to convey. What is your message? Then,  figure out what content you’re delivering and what is your message. How many times a day are you going to post and what are you going to GIVE to your audience. it’s all about what you’re giving. This is social media, not “sell me your sh*t media” I know I’m blundt, but you’re asking honest questions, I’m giving you honest answers…You choose ONE thing you want to do and do it well. If you’re going to create a blog, then do it WELL and do thoroughly. Just focus on the one thing you want to convey and allow everything else to work from that point forward.

Q: 1. is I have 3000 plus followers on my profile, yet only about 300 of these are fans of my page, what would you suggest is the best way to get them to join in?

     2. I currently use my Name on My page and am looking to change this to be my new brand Love You, Love Your Life – my page has 900+ fans and i know it is hard to get people to move do you think it matters that the Facebook URL is not the same? Not keen to set up a new page as i know people do not automatically move.

A: First, renaming a page, I’ve only seen two companies able to do this after the 200 like cut off by FB. Pizza Hut and The Girlfriend Life. I just interviewed Jo Ann of TGFL and she’s done an excellent job at organically making her page one of the best on FB thus far. Uncomfortable at first. You’ll have to make the decision. should you stay with your page name or should you keep the name you have and start working from that point forward. Your choice.

The best way to move fans from your personal page to your fan page is to offer them a “lead magnet”. Something they can use to increase their knowledge. What do you offer that is something they can use? For example, The top 10 ways to increase your love life and live a life of love.. or the top 10 ways to learn how to love yourself.

This is one of the most talked about organically built pages on FB https://www.facebook.com/thegirlfriendlife - I just interviewed her yesterday. Organic builds are going to take you at least 3-5 years. Jo Ann did this every day for 8-10 hours a day.

Q:  Nicole, if you have no presence online yet… do you start with a FB page or start with a website

A: Great question, you start with where you’re most comfortable. Are you comfortable on Facebook? Then go that route and the first things to ask yourself are:

What is my niche?

Who are they?

How old/young are they?

What do they have in common with me?

Define that niche so well so that when you post you are talking ONLY to them.

Q: Morning ladies! Jumping in here… I don’t personallt sign up for lead magnets on facebook… I usually join in a conversation based on a recommendation or friend referral. I see that you are recommending it as a sales/marketing funnel… can you talk more about how & what? I see how it works with websites online… just haven’t seen it work well with facebook yet. THANKS!

A: –Ok. So the funnel, ladies, the funnel is illusive to most, but defined and succinct in its’ layout. The funnel is much more in depth than just Facebook. You don’t usually get people to sign up for your funnel on Facebook, you get them to sign up for your lead magnet on your website by leading them there via an ad with a prize or something they can get from you. You start with an email autoresponder first and you make sure that autoresponder is tight and right. Then you take them through your Facebook page by using the Pareto Principle 80/20 rule and you ask them kindly to join your email list because you give some awesome information on that list and if they join they’ll get a free gorilla…or something like that j/k.;)

Then you get their name and email address and you can do this in various ways on Facebook. Through a contest such as a free giveaway of an ipad mini or kindle.

When you decide the route you’re taking you’ll be able to define your offer. One mistake I see made all the time is “Oh, I have such a great idea, I’m going to sell it because EVERYONE will love it because I love it and my best friend forever loves it and….” and they go to market. And then the market looks at the idea and says, Nope, not really we wanted (THIS)…. and the person turns around in shame and decides to quit.

What to do instead:

Go to your market with an IDEA and ask your market, “Hey whaddya think?”

Survey the market.

Survey your audience.

Ask them questions.

Figure out what they want and THEN make the product around what they want, not what you THINK they want.

Don’t think. Just ask.

Q:  What is the big difference between “Pages” and groups?

A:  Ok yes, it’s different for Groups because Groups have to be monitored. Pages are a bit different because 96% of the time people will Like your page and never come back to it because they’re too busy in the newsfeed. You want to catch them in the news feed ladies… The newsfeed is great because it allows people to scroll through and find what they’re really interested in, Unfortunately, your message may be lost, which means you have to get really kean on repurposing your content.

Q: Nicole, can you give some ideas about repurposing content?

A:  Think about it this way, you can use the same content 2-3 times in a week and different people will see it. I don’t necessarily do that on my page because I’m commenting on what’s hot and trending so I want to be cutting edge. But, when I see something that’s come out that’s exactly like what just happened 2 months ago, I’ll repurpose content. You want to repurpose content with a new twist…so find something that relates and share that content in a different way with a CTA (call to action) Share this, Like This, Get this, Do this..

One of the one reason we all have a problem on Social media is that we’re trying to put our own spin on social and it’s not about us, it’s about them. WIIFM Radio station plays constantly in the head of your prospect. So, play what they want to hear. WIIFM Radio= What’s in it for Me!!

Start small ladies,  You have to get in to your niche first and make it really tight. The tighter your niche is the better. You get that niche down and you’re talking to that person, just like you’re sitting at coffee with them. In your emails you talk to them personally. Pictures are really really important and not the one’s that you find on Google Images.

Stop using Google Images. It doesn’t help you. Take your own images and put them up. FB loves organic stuff.
