The Humane Society Naples has announced that it is the recipient of an $800,000 bequest from the estate of Nancy "Jill" Weinig. The Humane Society Naples is the top rated animal rescue organization in the State of Florida.

Weinig was a resident of Naples for many years and loved the community.  She did not have children of her own and her extended family was small.  She was especially fond of small dogs, she wanted to do something in a meaningful way to help provide for their humane care.

Through the assistance of her attorney, Brad Rigor at Quarles & Brady LLP, she chose to leave a portion of her estate to The Humane Society Naples. Rigor said that Weinig chose The Humane Society Naples because of its record for outstanding stewardship of its resources.

"We are profoundly grateful for compassionate donors like Jill Weinig, who generously include The Humane Society Naples in their estate planning.  Their thoughtfulness leaves a meaningful and lasting impact for Collier County's orphaned animals," said Michael Simonik, executive director of The Humane Society Naples.

The Humane Society Naples' mission is to shelter animals in times of need, locate life-long homes, and promote responsible pet ownership through education, legislation, and sterilization. Founded in 1960, the no-kill, cage-free shelter has found forever homes for thousands of homeless pets.

Over a half of million people visit The Humane Society Naples' three locations each year. According to Charity Navigator, The Humane Society Naples is the top rated animal rescue organization in the State of Florida and one of the highest ranked animal rescue organizations in the country.

The Humane Society Naples received the organization's coveted 4-star rating as a result of The Humane Society Naples maintaining sound fiscal management practices and a commitment to accountability and transparency in its efforts to ensure homeless pets in Collier County find loving forever homes.
