The opportunity

 

We are looking for a Principal Advisor  Unified Communications and Messaging, responsible for developing and maintaining effective strategy through design, standards and roadmaps for Unified Communications, including Instant Messaging, Voice, Telephony, Videoconferencing, Web Conferencing, Desktop Sharing and Messaging.  This role provides quality assurance and guidance to project delivery and operations teams.

What the role entails

Develop architecture capability, roadmaps and supporting solutions for Unified Communications, including Instant Messaging, Voice, Telephony, Videoconferencing, Web Conferencing, Desktop Sharing and Messaging, to meet the goals of the Rio Tinto business and IS&T service strategy.

Develop presentations to executive levels to justify and articulate the business value the strategy will deliver (include measures).

Experience in developing and presenting business cases to support strategy and initiatives.

Preparation, documentation and creation of architecture at a complex global scale.

Support Unified Communications services including; vision and definitions, architecture design quality assurance of pre-flight and inflight projects, reference architecture development and road mapping.

Ensures provision of secure, interoperable, sustainable, reusable solutions across the portfolio

Develop strategy for overall domain direction and supporting capabilities in alignment with Business, Technology and Application domain strategies.

Actively engages with peer level in Business/Technology/ Information/ Application Architecture, Build and Operate to monitor quality of solution design through delivery projects and associated transition to support.

Engage with leader, team, peers and collaborative groups, internal and external to the organization, to identify priorities for innovation and adoption of emerging technologies

Lead or support Build team on prototyping and piloting

Promote standardisation of core and repeatable technology.

Engage with industry bodies and co-ordinates access to public and partner research and new technologies.

What you will need for this role

To succeed in this challenging and impactful role, you will have;

Minimum 5-10 years of experience.

Degree qualified or higher in IT or related degree

Demonstrable experience in developing strategy and implementing strategy.

Strong technology architecture knowledge

Heavy exposure to Unified Communications strategy and design with large scale and diverse organisations

Exposure to technology, information and application architecture domains.

Working in the IT department of a global diversified corporation

Ability to effectively work with multiple stakeholders, in multiple regions / time zones

Support the development of the EA capability across all architecture roles in Rio Tinto

Demonstrated exposure in working with a large organisation that is internationally dispersed is essential.  Previous work experience gained in heavy industry or the mining field would be advantageous but not essential.
