ICCO is a global cooperation. ICCO was established in 1964 and became a cooperation in 2012. The founding members of the cooperative are Edukans, the Protestant Church of The Netherlands (Kerk in Actie) and the association co-Prisma. Within a coherent programmatic framework, ICCO Cooperation offers worldwide financial support, lobby and brokerage services to local non-governmental organizations, the private sector, churches, and networks that work on sustainable economic development, democracy and peace, access to basic services, food security and climate mitigation.

Our organization consists of a Global Office in The Netherlands (Utrecht) and 7 Regional Offices in Southern  Africa (South Africa), West Africa (Mali), Central and Eastern Africa (Uganda), Central and South Asia (Nepal),  South East Asia (Indonesia), Central America (Nicaragua)  and South America (Bolivia) whereas the Middle East Desk is located at the GO.

ICCO Cooperation has approximately 300 employees (60% non-Dutch) and a budget of 100M€ in 2013.

For our Global Office in Utrecht we are looking for an enthusiastic

Account manager USA Foundations (f/m)

For 32-36hrs per week, for a period of 6 months (minimum)

 

Institutional Donor Unit
The Institutional Donor Unit (IDU) at the Global Office consists of three relationship managers and one unit head. In addition, there are one or two regional fundraising officers working at each regional office. In total, 12 employees are responsible for building and maintaining relationships with institutional donors.

At this moment, ICCO is working to strengthen its position in the USA market. There are already a number of relationships with donors. The ambition is to build this position further.

What will you be doing?
In preparation for a satellite office to be set up by ICCO in the USA, you will make a start from the Global Office (Utrecht) with the mapping of current and potential funding options. You will look at e.g.:

- On what topics does ICCO have the most potential?
- How do the approval procedures for these donors work?
- What should be our strategy to build relationships with these donors?
- Who could / should we partner with to achieve the highest impact at the lowest costs?
- What are the different scenarios for setting up an office in the USA?

In the course of 2014, ICCO will be physically present in the United States. The position Account Manager USA foundation – based in Utrecht, includes all the substantive preparations for the start of the activities of the satellite office. The position based in Utrecht is therefore a temporary function.

Profile
The Fundraiser we are looking for has:

Knowledge of the American market and 3-5 years of relevant work experience;

At least HBO (higher vocational) level;

Availability for a minimum of 6 months, working 32-36 hours a week;

A commercial, entrepreneurial and pragmatic approach;

Strong analytical skills, is flexible and is able to work under pressure;

Ability to work independently, pro-actively  and perseverantly

Excellent communication and writing skills in Dutch and English

A positive attitude towards the protestant identity of ICCO.
