1. President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected the gay marriage offer proposed by the United States of America. The President is said to have argued that sodomy is against the law of Nigeria and abhorrent to our culture.
2. President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, July 21 assured international investors of “improved moral architecture” in his administration. The president said that his administration would continue the major privatisation programme started by previous governments but with a standard that is based on proper ethics.
3. Cardinal John Onaiyekan, the catholic archbishop of Abuja, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari on what actions to take in the fight against corruption.

4. Contrary to the rumour that Jonathan’s former CSO, Mr Gordon Obua had died in the custody of the DSS, Obua had Tuesday afternoon told Nigerians that he is alive and well. While thanking Nigerians for their concern, he said he was being treated with dignity by the management and staff of Department of State Security Services (DSS), and that there was no course for alarm.
5. President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that his government was open to negotiation with the Boko Haram terrorist group in order to have the abducted Chibok schoolgirls released. Buhari however emphasised on the need to negotiate with the right group. He was speaking with Christiane Amanpour on CNN.
6. President Muhammadu Buhari has praised the World Bank for deeming it necessary to intervene in the ongoing insurgency in the north east, by offering to assist with a package which would see it spending up to $2.1 billion in rebuilding the North-east. He has however advised the World Bank to work with a team from Nigerian in order to monitor implementation.
7. Nigerians have been advised by the EFCC to ignore an alleged choreographed protest by a faceless group claiming to be representatives of civil society organizations under the aegis of Coalition of Civil Liberties and Equity, who had planned on Tuesday to stage a protest to demand for the removal of the chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Lamorde over alleged injustice done to some persons currently being questioned by the Commission.
8. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has alleged that its members were been treated as though they were refugees or prisoners of war by the APC led government. The party boasted that it will bounce back. The PDP through its Publicity Secretary, Metuh, said that it was sure of winning some scheduled States’ elections, particularly that of Kogi State.
9. Yoruba Socio-political group, Afenifere has asked President Muhammadu buhari to implement the recommendations contained in the National Conference report. The group while promising to mount pressure on the President because they believe that the changes contained in the report will effect change in Nigeria’s political and social order.
10. The Muslim Ummah of Southwest Nigeria (MUSWEN) has warned leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), to stop using CAN officials to attack Muslim leaders. The group in a statement condemned the recent verbal attack on the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar and the Secretary-General of the council Prof. Ishaq Oloyede by an official of CAN, Sunday Oibe.
11. The new Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General Abayomi Olonisakin, has promised that a specific time-line would be set to bring to an end the continuous Boko Haram onslaught in the north east.
12. The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has cautioned the Federal Government against allowing the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to former President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, Gordon Obuah to die in Custody of the DSS as the consequence would be grievous. The governor, in a statement said Obua’s detention was illegal, calling for his immidiate release.
13. Following the ongoing fuel scarcity across the country, the NNPC has moved against some major marketers in the country, withdrawing at least licenses of three of them over sharp practices. The affected companies include Funo Alfa, Organizer West Africa and Rich Oil Company.
14. Hundreds of angry women from the nine states of the Niger Delta region have warned President Muhammadu Buhari, following the dismissal of 13 ex-militant youths trained as pilots by the Lufthansa Airline Training School in Frankfurt, Germany.
15. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has started moving ballot papers used during the 2015 elections to the six zonal offices of the commission where they are to be destroyed, a report by the Nigerian Tribune has revealed.
16. President Muhammadu Buhari has accused some former ministers of “selling about one million barrels of stolen crude oil per day” and diverting the gains to personal accounts.
Buhari made the revelations while speaking with Nigerians In Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) in the United States and Canada at the Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC on the third day of his visit to the country.
17. A top official of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Olala Osondu, has been shot dead in Rivers state. Osondu, who was the PDP’s secretary general in Ahoada West local government area of the state, was assassinated in front of his compound as he arrived from a meeting a few minutes after midnight.
18. The Imo state governorship election tribunal has struck out the petition of Chief Emeka Ihedioha, against Gov. Rochas Okorocha. Ihedioha who was the deputy speaker of the house of representatives in the 7th senate contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Okorocha meanwhile contested on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
19. The Bayelsa State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to prosecute former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience. The call was made by the Chapter’s Chairman, Perekeme Kpodo at a news conference in Yenagoa on Wednesday, he accused the former first family of looting the nations resources and other associated crimes.
20. Nigerian universities have performed poorly once again in the 2015 global ranking of schools with none of its higher institutions making the world’s top 1,000 list.
