Brouhaha! How did we get to a point where we’re arguing about whether or not to say “Bharat Mata ki Jai”?
Nagpur: There is an ongoing hot debate which is stirring a controversy over, to say or refrain to say “Bharat Mata ki Jai.” This same hymn was chanted freedom fighters keepingtheir spirits on the ironsides during the campaign of freedom for our motherland. It is rather a shame that propagandists today are using garish gimmicks to create undue controversy for staying in news.

The question stands tall, How did we get to a situation where one person claims he will never chant the slogan even if he has a knife to his throat? Meanwhile some-other groups call for his tongue to be yanked out of his skull or his entire skull be slit from the rest of his body? How do you explain the rationale behind another person saying he will say, “Hindustan Zindabad”, but won’t say “Bharat Mata ki Jai”? Are we really serious or just playing demagoguery.
India has great cultural, social, political and religious history. The diversity is what unifies us. There is a reason why Our country is called Mother India? As a matter of fact, India has been called a Maa or mother for centuries. Indian culture considers nature is as one of the most important parts in life. The word Bharat maa has been mentioned even in Vedas.
Atharva Veda mentions in verses calling the motherland Bharat Maa. Vande Mataram written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and author and writer of the 19th century the famous Bangla bhudev Mukhopadhyay wrote a satire ‘Unabimsa Purana’ in which Bharati word was used. According to the Oxford Dictionary, the meaning of Motherland is ‘a place where you were born and the place where you may have emotional connect.’
In communist dialectics, the views are not considerate for nationalism and nationalities. In every communist regime, nationalist forces are brutally suppressed.Indian Islam is most inclusive and can teach the overseas radicals many lessons of peace and coexistence. During the freedom struggle, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians all fought together for independence and shouted “Bharat Mata ki Jai” im sync. In my memory, no Muslim leader had ever raised any objection to this slogan. There have been issues with “Vande Mataram” but not the same is with “Bharat Mata ki Jai”.
A general commotion is that Owaisi is guilty of over-playing his hand. Syed Shahabuddin, who, like Owaisi, created a stir when the RSS started the Ram Mandir movement in the 80s, by forming the All India Babri Masjid Conference. He crossed lines in December, 1986, making one the most significant mistakes by boycotting the Republic Day celebrations along with his peers.
Owaisi is a well versed man has studied in London, an articulate in English and well exposed to modern values but is bulletin politics only left of all that.
Today’s politics is either majority driven or demagogue driven for staying in limelight inflammatory speeches are colossal Gadgets but it would be of better help if they do not take regressive and provocative stands and amalgamate new ways to promoteinclusive growth in India. Today the Indian voter is well informed and knowledgeable. There is a commotion in the Muslim community that they have been let down by their community leaders on many occasions and anyone voicing them should be able to undo this before any other remediations.
There is an urgent need of finding solutions to these ongoing acrimoniousness that has manipulated views into binary captions of ‘anti-nationalism’ and ‘patriotism’. Everyone has a right to express love for their nation in their own unique ways, and no tom, dick and harry can obstruct freedom of expression but it should not hurt the interests of nationalism.
