Nagpur Today.
Whenever, young boys and girls who have finished their graduation, enter into any professional colleges, they are very apprehensive about various aspects. This may include their looks, their behavioural patterns and so many other aspects.
However, Shat-Ayu College made the transition easy by the warm welcome that the seniors and lecturers accorded to the freshers. There was plain and enjoyable fun which everybody had.
The Freshers Day programme was based on Bollywood theme. So how can one not remember Santa Banta and their PJs (Panchat Jokes). Two senior students who were dressed up as Santa and Banta were having royal fun and did not leave any stone un-turned to pull a leg of the juniors. They made the programme very interactive, where the audience was involved in every programme.
A fresher danced to the dance-mix which included Bollywood numbers like “Chikni Chameli and other numbers. This was followed by 10 senior students who were dressed in atrocious attire which ranged from burmudas, dhotis, lungis and pajamas. The idea was to make the audience laugh. However, against the popular expectation that they will dance to very popular Bollywood number “Lungi Dance” by Yo Yo Honey Singh, the group of 10 boys started with emoting to very old Bollywood number “Likhe Jo Khat Tujhe, Who Teri Yaad Mey”, followed by another old number Jaaaney Ja, Dundtha Raat Din, Mai Yahan, Too Wahan”. Suddenly a transition came and the guys danced away to the newer number “Kisi Disco Me Jayen, Jayen”. The roar of laughter, guffaws that the song and dance evoked took time to abate.
A solo performance by a guy on a synthesizer who sang a soul number brought some semblance.
Santa and Banta were providing good fillers and they did not leave their lecturers too out of their leg pulling, who too were game to the fun and took it sportingly.
One very rare thing that Nagpur Today witnessed was, even with all the youthfull fun and frolic, fooling around, the youth were very disciplined and displayed restraints to their fooling around. There were some hooting from the entire audience, but at no point did it turn vulgar and vile.
The programme ended with a fashion show. But Hey! Hold it. The participants of the fashion show were quizzed about their thoughts on their skills, idols, crisis management etc.
The guys were dressed in varying attire which ranged from casual to formal. The gals’ attire ranged from modern-formal to casual and traditional ethnic attire. On the whole they looked too cute.
