Sugar Land, what an interesting name! I couldn’t help imagining that the city would look like a huge candy shop. One of the most affluent and fastest-growing city in Texas, Sugar Land was founded as a sugar plantation in the mid-20th century.

It took us about thirty to forty minutes to reach Hyatt Place from the William Hobby Airport. A family friend of Masood’s uncle picked us up and took us to his home to introduce us to his wife, a very lovely and smart lady whom I had a very interesting conversation on genetics with.

Hyatt Place is situated is a very good location. There’s a footbridge that connects the property with many restaurants across the water and a shopping plaza as well.

Check in was a breeze and we didn’t have any problem whatsoever.

The Room:

Cozy Corner sofa-sleeper

The room is very spacious, clean, and tastefully furnished. There’s a lot of space for those who would want to entertain guests whilst staying at the hotel. And I loved their cushion covers. Here, take a closer look:

42″ HDTV with Hyatt Plug Panel media center for connecting your laptop or media device to the TV.

There’s free Wi-Fi (that is fast enough to actually let you browse the web, update your Facebook status, and post a picture or two on Instagram) and remote printing facility.

This is the plush Hyatt Grand Bed®. Very comfortable.

The bathroom sink is outside the bathroom. It wasn’t inconvenient, just a little strange. But I totally love the sliding door that has a full-length mirror attached to it.

The Food:

There’s complimentary breakfast; the usual stuff: eggs, milk, juice, coffee, assorted bread and pastries, fruits, butter, jam, yogurt, cereals, etc.

We also ordered the following, both of them very delicious (specially the hummus!):

Spinach and Artichoke • $ 8.50

Basil pesto, fresh spinach and mushrooms, marinated artichokes and mozzarella cheese on warm herb flatbread.

Hummus Trio • $ 7.00

Trio of red pepper, roasted garlic and basil pesto hummus. Served with kalamata olives, fire-roasted peppers in warm herb flatbread and Carr’s® crackers.

The view outside

I like the hotel because…

the room and bathroom are very clean.

the surroundings were quiet at night.

room rates are good.

wi-fi is good.

service is excellent.

ample parking service

complimentary shuttle service within a 5 mile radius, 7:00am – 10:30pm

I don’t like the hotel because…

it is located in a business park so that it gets a little tricky finding your way to the hotel.
