**Description**

*Job Purpose:*

The Systems Group is looking for a combination Software Developer (SD), and Linux System Administrator (SA). Our group develops, implements and maintains applications and infrastructure tools used by both our team and our user-base to support world-wide manufacturing and test operations.

The primary component in our infrastructure is a world-wide manufacturing data collection system, consisting of JEE application servers, databases, web-apps, and the hardware/software infracture to supporting them. Currently consisting of over 30 hard and virtual CentOS servers, the position requires very strong Linux System Administration skills, though over time, the dominant role will be that of an Enterprise software developer.

*Primary Responsibilities:*

* Research into technologies, architectures and best practices related to the growth and utilization of our server infrastructure.
* Daily maintenance and support of our existing server infrastructure. (Apply patches, security updates, etc.)
* Provide backup support for DBA
* Deploy and support infrastructure tools, such as GIT, Subversion, JIRA, to support our development process and for our users.
* Design and implement and support software and tools supporting our user community.
* Become a Driver for best practices related to the software development process for our users.
* Act as a liaison between the Systems Group and our corporate I.T. organization.
* Developing and adhering to project budgets and schedules.
* Mentoring other software developers in the organization on software development best practices.

**Qualification**

* Bachelor of science degree in computer science, I.T., or other engineering related discipline.
* 5 years of technical experience with Centos, Red Hat, or SUSE Linux OS.
* Knowledge of unix system administration tools, techniques, and best practices.
* Knowledge of database systems and operations. (SQL, etc.)
* Knowledge of Java and JEE software and development practices.
* Strong background in OOP, Design Patterns, and software development practices.
* Familiarity with CI tools, (Jenkins/Hudson) and SCCS (GIT & Subversion)
* Proficient with PostgreSQL, Python, Perl, Maven, Vaadin, Gradle a plus.
* Exceptional attention to details.
* Strong English communication skills.
* Ability to self-prioritize and work with little supervision.
* An absolute passion for driving quality into the software development process.

*Working Conditions and Basic Requirements:*

* Normal office environment. May require up to 15% travel at higher levels of job family. Frequent long hours and deadlines.
