Let’s face it, celebrities are known for being vain, conceited,  superficial, narcissistic etcetera

But hey, who can blame the with all the pressures put on celebrities to be relevant and stay on top of one’s game?  On the otherhand, not everyone is celebville is all about posting #selfies and #usies on their social media platforms.   I have been following a few of Mzansi celebs and I just love how they are about that traditional food / kasi food life.

Phindile Gwala @phindilegwala

She is know for playing the role of Noni, the receptionist at MMC in the SABC 2 soapie, Muvhango.   If you ask me, Muvhango is killing the game right now in terms of showcasing cultures, food and languages.   Lately, I watch each episode with a pen and notepad in hand to take names of Venda dishes.  It is not really surprising , therefore, that their cast members love traditional food.  So big up to Muvhango!

Kelly Khumalo @kelly_khumalo

Love or hate her, this chick is amazingly talented vocally and she is undeniably gorgeous.  I remember back in my student days, when Kelly was still rocking the “Itshitshi” image, she had a show at CPUT and all the guys had their jaws on the floor.  Nevertheless,  it takes a person that is down to earth and in touch with who they are to get out of the car and buy miellies from a street vendor on the side of the road.  Some people are not even celebrities and they would not be caught dead doing that.  So, Kelly and Phindile get a high five from me!  You go ladies!

Anele Mdoda @zintathu

You’ve got to love Anele!  This girl is so intune with who she is.  Uyandichaza!

If anyone loves Umngqusho (samp and beans) then myself and that person will get along very well.   Anele has this picture of a pot of Umngqusho on her Instagram.

Nkululeko Victor Magoba @nkuli_m

Another Muvhango actor playing the role of Gundo, Vho Albert’s son or should I say Vuyiswa’s Ben 10?  Ha!   This dude loves his food.  He’s got more food pictures than any actor/actress out there.

Kamohelo Tladi @kamokaofela

Known as Dj Kamo Kaofela, is about his traditional food!  Pap and Liver, Kota, Mopani Worms, that’s what you’ll find on his Instagram.  The man also cooks!  Infact, he calls himself the complete package.  Well, we can’t argue with that.

Minnie Dlamini – Intombi YomZulu @minniedlamini

You’ve got to love this chick!  She’s gorgeous, sexy and yet she is all about her Pap and Steak!  Ask her how she does it, or better yet just go through her pics and you’ll see the girl works out!  Minnie is a perfect example that you can be about your traditional food and be sexy.  Just as long as you put in that effort.   I guess having a soccer captain as a life partner keeps her motivated!

Well, who else did I miss?  If  these celebs can be about their food then why can’t you be?  Would you pose with Skopo, Miellies, or Kota like these guys?
