Presentation
The Innokin MVP 2.0 comes in a clear plastic Gift box, with the MVP sitting proudly on the top of the recessed foam packaging top layer, as you lift the MVP out you can remove the top layer of packaging, which then reveals, the rest of the kit, you have the beauty ring, which attaches to the 510 connection, the USB multi use charging cable. And two iclear 16 dual coil clearomizer (clear). Plus the instruction books. Which I must say for the price of £40 is a very complete kit, including everything you will need.
Features & Specs
I will try and cover all of the features and specs on this feature rich device, sorry if it gets a bit wordy, but there are lots of great features to cover.
The MVP, I would best describe as a complete Vaping Unit, as is comes with the non-removable 2600mAh battery built into the unit, which is perfect for someone just starting out, or looking to move up to variable Voltage and wattage. As there is no need to buy separate batteries and a charger.
The MVP can be used in two vaping modes, Variable wattage or variable Voltage. In variable Wattage, you can adjust the wattage from between 6 to 11 watts, so which ever resistance coil you fit you know it will be running at the wattage that you have selected. Or you can select variable voltage, from between 3.3v to 5v, in this mode it will send a set voltage to the coil, so may need adjusting to match the resistance of the coil. (That is my understanding)
The two modes are easily selected by either pressing the 'P' bottom on the side of the display, for wattage, or the 'V' button for voltage. Once you press and hold the desired button, the mirror finish LCD, will light up in a nice bright blue, firstly indicating how many puffs you have had, between 0 and 999. Since the device was last turned off. Then it will change to the setting the device is currently set to, for example P10, which would indicate that it is set to 10 watts, once this unit is displayed you can then repeatedly press the button to increase the setting. There is no + or -, you just keep pressing until you reach the desired setting, or reach the highest setting then 'round robin' back to the start. Really simple. This is repeated for voltage, which ever function you select last, is what the device will run in.
The second function of the P and V buttons is to display the Ohms of your coil, simple press both of them together at the same time. It will the display for example R2.0, showing that you have a 2.0ohm resistance coil in your atomiser. Or NON is none found. If you continue to hold the two button, the resistance display will change to show remaining charge in the Battery, for example mine is showing V3.9, when fully charged mine showed about V4.1
On the front of the MVP, just set down a bit from the top, you have the square fire button, the silver fire button is nicely raised up from the face of the unit, with a black plastic LED surround. And can be easily found by your fingers. The MVP has a nice firm fire switch, some reviews have stated that it is to firm to push, but I must say I have found it just right. And activates without to much trouble. I found the location of the button just right, and is well positioned to either use with your thumb, or turned around and used with either of your first two fingers when held in the palm of your hand.
The fire button is also used for turning the device on and off, by press it three times. Every time you fire the device the button edge of the outer ring glows Green for charged, Orange for 50% battery! and Red for requires charging.
On the bottom of this unit, is where Innokin have been really clever, not only have they added the standard micro USB charging slot, but have also added a full size USB socket. And by switching the small metal switch on the base to output, you can plug in the full size USB end of the charging cable and charge your phone should you need to.
The supplied Innokin charging cable has what they are calling a Powerbank feature which allows you to charge your iphone, blackberry and Samsung devices (usb 2.0 and 3.0 compatible)
This unit can also re-charge whilst vaping, although it is not a true pass through, as you are not taking you vaping power from the mains, it is still really handy.
Inside this full metal casing is a Lithium-ion polymer 2600 mAh battery,
On the top of the unit offset to the left, you have a 510 eGo thread connection to attach all your 510 or ego cone threaded devices. The MVP also comes with a plinth attachment. Which can be screwed down over the top of the 510/ego threading, to act as a sort of beauty ring. I found that I didn't actually need to remove it once fitted, and all of my ego style cone threaded devices fitted inside it and all of my 510 tanks fitted snug to the top. This plinth also has two small air holes on each side, which allow great levels of airflow.
From a safety point of view it is stated that the Innokin MVP is fitted as standard with Short circuit / atomizer protection with a 3.0 amp limit and an over discharge protection function, so when you hold the fire button for longer than about ten seconds the unit will automatically power off.
Aesthetics & Build Quality
Looks wise the Innokin MVP 2.0 has a clean box mod design, the pearl silver one I have, has a sort of an acid etched finish on the outer casing, which seems to be fairly scratch resistant (so far so good), with the Innokin 'love to taste' logo laser etched into the back, and the 'ITaste MVP' logo on the front.
The display and control panel is very well finished, with the display been covered with a mirror finish, the function buttons are well machined, but do have a slight rattle.
The top and bottom plates are finished is a matt Steele effect with an exposed screw in each corner, which I feels adds to the overall build quality, knowing that it has been screwed together well, not just bonded or press fit.
The 510 Ego threading connection on the top feels really secure, which I feel is important, as it always seems the most exposed part of the device should it be dropped, or squashed in your pocket.
The power out switch on the bottom of the unit has a nice solid feel to it, and when you plug it into charge you always get a nice solid connection, it does worry me that there is no type of cover or protection of the exposed, full size and Mirco USB, as they can be easily damaged or contaminated. I think it would have benefited by having some kind of hinged metal bottom plate, that you could snapped shut when not charging, just to give a bit more protection to those USB points, because if you can't charge it, you can't vape it.
Performance & Real World Experience
I have been using the Innokin MVP constantly since I picked it up from Smokey Joes three days ago, it has been a real joy to use. I find it the perfect balance between performance and size. It fits perfectly in you hand, which I was surprised by considering it is square shaped. I find my self gripping my hand around it,with my thumb over the top, and firing it with my index finger, and sometimes holding it further up with my index finger wrapped around the tank neck and firing it with my middle finger.
It vapes really really well definatly as good if but better than my Itaste SVD, which I always thought was great. Combined with being a more compact size, with more functionality, and a longer vaping time due to the amount of charge this thing seems to hold.
I have found that it will last for about a day and a half of strong vaping. It just seems to go on and on, I have got so used to having to take spare battery's out with me to keep my SVD powered, I kept feeling like I had forgotten something with just the MVP in my pocket, and a bit of extra juice. I would get home from work and the light would still be on green, amazing. Just wish they had put the charge indicator light at the top of the switch, so you could see it, as when you press it, I found it covered by my thumb, and had to try and press it from the top to be able to see it.
I found the settings really easy to change, and after a day found myself just popping the power up with my little finger whilst still in my hand.
Recommendation
I would defiantly recommend The Innokin MVP 2.0, to any one looking to take the next step and get a vv or vw device with a resistance checker built in.
To a seasoned vapor looking for a new device with plenty of power and functionality. And lastly to all the Vapors out there that just want a device that they can use all day and night, without having to worry about taking spare kit with them, just in case.
I think for £40 you defiantly can't go wrong, as the kit comes complete with everything you need, just add juice.
