I'm new to the site, having found it during my search for a JD garden tractor project.
I found a barely running '86 316 with no mower deck. All the sheet metal is in place (even the grill) and no dents....minimal work will be needed for paint.
The engine was running on one cylinder, and examination finds that whoever was in this thing last put the right cylinder head and intake manifold (and who knows what else) on with blue RTV. So I'll blow the engine apart to see if it's worth saving. I'm thinking the tipping point will be the condition of the cylinders....whether they need a rebore. If the engine is a goner, I'm thinking about one of those Vanguard re-power kits from Jim's Tractors. Anyone here installed one of those?
There's a bad seal or two in the rear end somewhere....right now, it's too filthy to see. It did at least climb the ramps into the back of my truck.
The seat cover is cracked all to **** and the cushion is water-logged. And the wiring has been boogered up.
I don't have any experience with eBay, so I guess I'll be learning that too.
