Want to be comfortable and on-trend this weekend? Well, why not go for a maxi dress? The floor-length frock is a fashionable choice, suitable for any setting you plan on settling into over next 48 hours, and sure to show off whatever type of body you possess…

From floaty and fun, to elegant and sophisticated, the maxi dress is a wardrobe staple that’s just made for the summer season, so there is really no excuse to not be seen rocking one – especially when our favourite celebrities have been spotted in them too;

Nigerian actress, Monalisa Chinda dazzled at African Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) in Lagos last month, with the Nollywood beauty sporting a a black sleeveless number with a long vibrant skirt. The star accessorised hers with a gold, white and black clutch and her long, wavy tresses which added a touch of glamour we totally adored.

Also showing us how to rock the infamous maxi is Elohor Aisien, who looked pretty in a peachy version. The CEO of Beth Models and former Miss Nigeria UK went for an easygoing look to a ‘Champagne Afternoon Tea’ event hosted by luxury lifestyle boutique, Poosh. We love how she used very few accessories for her look and allowed the colour of the dress to steal the limelight.

And last but not least, we have the name that has been heard nearly everywhere around the world this year – Lupita Nyong’o. The chocolate-complexioned actress stunned on the red carpet earlier this year, wearing a Lanvin Resort’14 maxi gown to the BAFTA LA Jaguar Britannia Awards. Ms Nyong’o certainly had all eyes on her in this silk number with gold and black panels, proving that a maxi is the way to go wherever you’re headed.

So, have we persuaded you to rock one this weekend? If so, simply shop our top five picks below for a style to suit your occasion;
