The Philadelphia Phillies season is over but the home runs scored in 2013 are still being remembered. I talked to the Philadelphia Horticultural Society to hear about their new plan for the Philadelphia community.

With their Home Runs for Trees Initiative, the Philadelphia Horticultural Society, Aramark and the Philadelphia Phillies have started planting new trees for every home run made during the 2013 season. Mary Ann Myer from the Philadelphia Phillies says that it is the team’s initiative for their Red Goes Green program. This year 140 trees will be planted in areas that lack a good amount of tree canopy that would help the environment. The players who sent these home runs will not be forgotten as their names will appear on a tag on the tree.
