Tennis professional Ford to coach at Hope College

Adam Ford has been hired to coach the men’s tennis team at Hope College in Holland, Mich., and already coaches the women’s team.

Ford has served as the women’s tennis coach since 2013. He has guided the Flying Dutch to a 52-18 overall record, two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championships and three NCAA Division III championship appearances.

When Ford was appointed head women’s coach, he had been employed at the college’s DeWitt Tennis Center since 2005 and had served as the facility’s head pro since 2010.

In high school, Ford was a two-time state champion at Forest Hills Central High School in Grand Rapids, Mich.

In college, Ford played tennis for four seasons at Northern Illinois University, where he graduated with a degree in communication studies. At Northern Illinois, Ford and his doubles partner were ranked as high as 33rd nationally among Division I players.

He was recognized by the Professional Tennis Registry in 2011 and was named the Michigan Tennis Pro of the Year.

Author Ted Bacino options book for movie

Author Ted Bacino’s book “The Shakespeare Conspiracy” has been made into a stage play with productions nationwide and he is optioning the book for a movie.

“The Shakespeare Conspiracy” is a comedy thriller that intertwines mysteries and centers on known spy and foremost playwright Christopher Marlowe, who appears to have been murdered in England before being tried for treason. The crown becomes suspicious of the mysterious murder and the similarities of his works with those of Shakespeare, who is also under investigation and defending his writing of plays that he’s never read.

Bacino has had careers as a newspaper reporter, high school and college educator, executive assistant for the secretary of state in Illinois and vice president of a chain of banks. He has also directed more than 100 musicals. As a writer, he has lived in Germany, London, Venice and Paris. He is now 82 years old and resides in Palm Springs, Calif.

He has a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and a master’s degree in elementary education from Northern Illinois University and graduated from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Trznadel hired as COO of Stradis Healthcare division

Stradis Healthcare has hired Joe Trznadel as chief operating officer of its Medikmark small-kit division in Waukegan, Ill.

Trznadel is responsible for all operations at the Waukegan facility. He joins Medikmark with an extensive medical device and pharmaceutical background in global manufacturing/operations and new product development.  Prior to joining Medikmark, Trznadel held senior leadership positions with Baxter Healthcare Corp., Thermo Fisher Scientific and most recently the Walgreen Co.

He earned a bachelor’s degree and an MBA in engineering from Northern Illinois University.



David Naze

Naze named associate dean at Prairie State

David Naze has been named associate dean of faculty affairs at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, Ill.

Since August 2014, Naze has served as the interim associate dean of faculty affairs. In that role, he provides support to the departments of nursing, dental hygiene, surgical technology, nursing assistance, fitness and exercise, EMT services, paramedicine, fire science technology, automotive, welding, manufacturing technology, HVAC, pipefitting, industrial electricity, applied mathematics and CADMD. He also collaborates with other deans to administer the grant activities of the career and technical division at PSC.

Naze has taught at PSC since 2006. While on the faculty, he has served as a curriculum developer, a faculty representative to the New Student Orientation Committee, chair of the Student Success Advisory Council, a faculty representative to the Strategic Planning Agenda Committee, co-director of the PSC High School Summer Speech Camp, president of the Faculty Senate, co-director of the PSC Speech Team and a department chair.

Naze came to PSC from Indiana University, where he served as an associate instructor. He has also served as a speech instructor at Ivy Tech Community College in Bloomington, Ind., an instructor for the GROUPS Program at Indiana University, a full-time speech instructor at NIU, a part-time speech instructor at Kishwaukee College and a part-time speech instructor at Rock Valley College.

He is past president of the Illinois Communication and Theatre Association, a member of the National Communication Association, a member of the Phi Rho Pi National Forensic Organization and a member of the NIU Forensics Alumni Council.

He has an associate degree from Rock Valley College, bachelor’s and master’s degrees from NIU and a doctorate in philosophy from Indiana University.



Sheila Caldwell

Caldwell chosen as diversity adviser at North Georgia

Sheila Caldwell has been named adviser to the president on diversity at the University of North Georgia.

Caldwell came to UNG in July 2013 as director of the school’s Complete College Georgia initiative, which aims to increase the number of Georgians with some level of college education to 60 percent. She will continue in that role. In her new position, she will work to increase the diversity of students, faculty and staff at each of UNG’s four campuses.

Earlier this year, Caldwell earned the Louise McBee Scholarship from the Georgia Association for Women in Higher Education, an award that recognizes leadership, academic excellence and community service in higher education.

She has a master’s degree in educational leadership from Argosy University and is pursuing a doctorate in workforce education from the University of Georgia. Her bachelor’s degree is in marketing from Northern Illinois University.

Cunningham to serve as VP at West Florida

The University of West Florida has appointed Steven Cunningham as vice president for administrative services and chief financial officer.

Cunningham will be responsible for oversight and administration of activities within administrative services and will serve as chief financial officer of the university and as chief executive officer of Business Enterprises Inc. He will also work closely with the board of trustees and board of governors and will serve as the university’s senior administrative liaison to external groups and agencies on matters relating to the administrative operations of the university.

Most recently, Cunningham served as the vice president of administration at Northern Illinois University. In this role, he served as chief administrative officer for university operations, human resources and facilities, including service as acting executive vice president and chief financial officer.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in labor and industrial relations from the University of Illinois. He received a doctorate in adult and higher education from NIU.

Jamie Mueller

Mueller to coach softball at Wartburg College

Jamie Mueller has been named the head softball coach at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.

Mueller comes to Wartburg from DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind., where she served as the assistant coach for the past three years. During her time with the Tigers, the program won three NCAC regular-season conference championships, won two NCAC conference tournament championships and made two appearances in the NCAA regional tournament, which included an NCAA regional championship, an NCAA super regional championship and a fifth-place finish in the NCAA College World Series in 2015.

She was a member of the 2015 NFCA Regional Coaching Staff of the Year honorees for the central region.

Mueller is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist and served as one of the four strength and conditioning coaches for the university while at DePauw.

She was an assistant coach at Aurora University in Aurora, Ill., for two seasons after she completed her three-year playing career for the Spartans.

The Hanover Park, Ill., native earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Aurora and a master’s degree in kinesiology and physical education from Northern Illinois University.

Jean Bruno

Bruno named assistant principal in Romeoville

Jonas Salk Elementary School Assistant Principal Jean Bruno will become assistant principal at Beverly Skoff Elementary School in Romeoville, Ill., for the new school year.

Bruno, who has been assistant principal at Salk in Bolingbrook, Ill., for seven years, has been with Valley View School District 365U since January 2002, serving as a sixth-grade language arts and math teacher and as athletic director at Lukancic Middle School for two years, a sixth-grade language arts and math teacher at Humphrey Middle School for four years and a fourth-grade teacher at the former Valley View School for nearly a year.

A resident of Romeoville with children in VVSD schools, Bruno is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Concordia University and a master’s degree in administration and leadership from Benedictine University.

Stallion selected as principal in Hinsdale

Angela Stallion has been selected as principal of The Lane School in Hinsdale, Ill.

Stallion has served as principal of N.B. Galloway School in Channahon District 17 since August 2006. She also has 16 years of experience as an elementary teacher, including third grade and kindergarten in Coal City Unit District 1 and the preschool at-risk program in Minooka District 201.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in educational administration from Aurora University. She is working on her doctorate in educational leadership from Northern Illinois University.

Jessica Donato

Donato to head business office at Northbrook Elementary

Jessica Donato has been selected to head the business office for Northbrook Elementary School District 28.

Her new job entails running the business end of four schools with a budget of $36 million.

Donato comes to Northbrook from Lincolnwood Elementary School District 74, where she helped operate a three-school district with a $25 million budget. For seven years before that, she had a similar job at Schiller Park District 81.

She has a master’s degree in school business management from Northern Illinois University and a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University.

Young joins SIUE as assistant coach of volleyball

Luke Young has become assistant coach of volleyball at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Young, a volunteer assistant coach for the Cougars since last season, has coached at Washington University, Lindenwood University and Graceland University.

Serving as the interim head coach at Washington University in 2013, Young guided the Bears to a 27-8 record, including an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Division III volleyball championships.

Young received his bachelor’s degree in visual communications and studio art from Graceland in 2004. During his undergraduate days, he was a member of the volleyball and track and field programs. Young continued his education at Northern Illinois University, where he earned his master’s degree in studio art.
