Garden-like campuses
XMU campuses are situated around theXiamenBay, oppositeTaiwanacross the sea, commanding a beautiful view of green hills and the blue sea. It boasts one of the most beautiful campuses in the world. Located on the southern tip ofXiamenIsland, the Siming Campus lies in close proximity to several places of interest and is adjacent to a sliver beach. Highly professional faculty and well-established disciplines
XMU implements the strategy of strengthening itself through human resource development. Thus, XMU has attracted a large number of top-notch professors, and has become a “talent highland” of prestigious scientists and leading scholars. The University has a highly qualified faculty of more than 2,500, including over 1,600 professors and associate professors. Currently, professors and researchers with doctorates from world-renowned universities are playing an increasingly important role. XMU consists of a graduate school and 26 schools and colleges with 66 departments, as well as over 11 research institutes, offering a comprehensive range of programmes, including humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering and technology sciences, management science, artistic science, and medical science.

Reasonable study expenses
The tuition fee and the cost of living in XMU are lower than most of the other prestigious universities in China and beyond. There are various scholarships available to international students, including Chinese Government Scholarships, Confucius Institute Scholarships, Confucius China Study Plan Scholarships, Fujian Provincial Government Scholarships and Xiamen University Scholarships. Full scholarships cover tuition, accommodation, food, healthcare and insurance costs, while partial scholarships cover one or several items covered by full scholarships.
Accommodation and food
The overseas student apartments on campus are set in picturesque surroundings and enjoy sea views and fresh sea air. The dorms are well-equipped with modern facilities and the Overseas Student Service Centre provides attentive services. Overseas students can also choose to dine in any of the 10 canteens on campus that provide a wide variety of cuisines.
First-class facilities
XMU boast a comprehensive range of teaching and research facilities and an efficient public service system. The University’s library holds a collection of over four million paper-based volumes and 37,330 gigabytes of e-books. Student-oriented care

About the Scholarship/Brief Description:
You are invited to apply for the Xiamen University 2015 Scholarships for International Students in China. Scholarship awardees will have their tuitions covered (a maximum of 4 years for doctoral programmes, 2-3 years for master’s programmes, 4-5 years for undergraduate programmes).
Moreover, XMU provides monthly living allowances for outstanding master’s or doctoral candidates in accordance with the standards of Chinese Government Scholarships. The awardees’ academic performance will be assessed each year and only those achieving the required standard will have their scholarship renewed for the following year.
Criteria for Eligibility:
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
Educational background and age limits: Applicants for bachelor’s degree studies must have a high school diploma and be under the age of 25; Applicants for master’s degree studies must have a bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 40 and Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have a master’s degree and be under the age of 45.

Number of Scholarships:
Up to 24 scholarships are awarded (including 8 for doctoral candidates, 11 for master’s candidates and 5 for undergraduate candidates).
Eligible Countries/Target Groups:
International (non-Chinese) students can apply for these scholarships.
Value of Scholarship/Inclusions:
The University offers scholarships to doctoral, master’s and undergraduate candidates. The first-class scholarships for doctoral and master’s candidates will have their tuitions covered (a maximum of 4 years for doctoral programmes, 2-3 years for master’s programmes) and offer monthly living allowance (RMB 2,000 for each doctoral student; RMB 1,700 for each master’s student).
Undergraduate candidates will not be provided with the first-class scholarship. The second-class scholarships will have the awardees’ tuitions covered (a maximum of 4 years for doctoral programmes, 2-3 years for master’s programmes, 4-5 years for undergraduate programmes).
Application Procedure/Instructions:
Applicants are eligible for scholarship assessment only after they are admitted to the undergraduate, master’s or doctoral programme of Xiamen University. Applicants are required to make online application and then download and print out the Application Form for International Students generated upon successful online application. It should be sent via post with the required documents.
Deadline for Application:
The application deadline is 30 April 2015.
Selection Criteria:
Applicants for undergraduate programmes will be given priority if they apply with a high score in SAT, IB diploma, GCE A level test, or UCE test. Applicants for postgraduate programmes will be given priority consideration if they graduate from world-renowned universities, sister universities, or are recommended by senior professors or experts.
A panel of experts at XMU will screen candidates for the scholarship and submit a list of nominees to university authorities for approval. Scholarship decisions will be made on the basis of the applicants’application documents, academic performance, overall merits, research achievements and supervisors’ comments.
Notification:
The result will be published on the website of the Admissions Office in Mid-June 2015. Scholarship awardees will be notified via email and their Admission Notice and Visa Application Form (JW202) will be sent out as soon as possible.
