A recent ASCD article by Bill Daggett outlined five transformative trends in education that are changing the face of education. During this week’s chat we’ll discuss the trends identified by Daggett and share how you currently see these trends in place at your own school as well as how you would like to see them expand or grow in the future. Meet Our Moderator:
Wendy Zdeb-Roper (@massp) became the Executive Director of MASSP on January 1, 2012. Wendy began her career in education as a teacher at Warren, Fitzgerald High School where she taught English and coached three varsity sports. She then went on to become the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at St. Clair High School in the East China School District. After three years as an Assistant Principal, Wendy was ready to seek a new challenge and she found it as the Principal at Rochester High School where she worked for seven years. Wendy holds a bachelor's degree in English and History from Western Michigan University and her Master's in Ed Leadership and Education Specialist degrees are both from Saginaw Valley State University.

Microcredentialing (digital badges/certificates) is a growing trend, do you see this in any of your classes/programs?
There is a heightened demand for career readiness. Are teachers focused on both hard & soft skills employers are seeking?

Project based learning & high-rigor, high-relevance lessons make learning authentic- is relevancy a focus for your staff?
Are you looking at ways to help staff learn/grow comfortable with PBL?
How are teachers using formative & summative assessment data to inform instruction/remediation?
