A fresh Thursday indeed!! After all the enjoyments and joy rides at the world famous amusement park, it was a time to visit some historical place. I am always fond of Indian history and its culture. It gives us a sense of pride to be an Indian and a part of its varied heritage. Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai is located in the centre of the city amidst the fort area. A phenomenon outcome of 1950s with the establishment of Jehangir Art Gallery Mumbai, this area is renowned as the centre of artistic activity. Easy to access from any part of the city, even from my place of accommodation, it took no efforts to reach the landmark gallery. The area was affectionately known as ‘Kala Ghoda’ for the long time because of the equestrian statue of ‘Black Horse’, riding horse of King Edward VII.

The Jehangir Art gallery is recognized as a national centre of modern art and culture, an assembling point of patrons, art lovers and artists. The gallery was constructed with the donation given by Sir Cawasji Jehangir, and the place is now maintained by Bombay Art Society. The gallery has four exhibition halls to depict the work of each ones. Its history associated with the renaissance of Indian art and culture, the landmark is a mammoth in itself. It has a free entry with a prohibition of photographs inside the gallery. So only few clicks were taken from the outside exteriors to keep its memories intact. Adjacent to the complex is a popular Samovar café, which resembles the 70’s socialist culture. The gallery neighbors to Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum, but its modern and contemporary art form counterparts the housed-antiquity of the museum. Highly impressed and inspired with each of the work shown in the gallery, the visit was completely worth every second.
The stay at Jehangir Art Gallery Mumbai accomplished my love for the historical places in a very fine way. Such a beautification was never been came a crossed. I enjoyed it thoroughly from the deep core of my heart. With some wonderful memories in my mind and flowing thoughts of our Indian art, I stepped forward to my next place of visit, Taraporewala Aquarium, Mumbai, the last destination of my travel. I was quite excited to explore it to the fullest.
