Deep in the charming San Pasquale, a few kilometers from the town of Santa Teresa Gallura, is a villa designed by the ZDA Zupelli Design Architecture studio. A Real Estate of 11,043 sqm, surrounded by nature and overlooking the Maddalena archipelago.
The villa is made up of four buildings: a main house overlooking a pool and served by an outdoor living, a guest house and a small cottage for the housekeeping staff located next to covered parking.
The design concept was born from the connection between environment and architecture, that merges itself with the location, becoming part of it, conceived with the aim of relating Sardinian nature with the human figure.
Essential also is the relationship with morphology of the context: the building, broken in a series of volumes, following the natural slope from the s-w to the n-e.
The sinuous configuration of the buildings aim to ensure every environment privileged views of the sea by the transparency through the large windows which let a diffused light inside the room. Otherwise, on the south side, toward the inner garden, the continuity of the elevation is broken by vertical slits that enrich the entrance and the service spaces. The building consists of various functional blocks used for specific functions.
The main entrance to the villa opens onto a panoramic window overlooking the sea and divide the living and sleeping area.
The first area consists of large and simple living room, a kitchen reserved for employees of the house and a dining room that opens onto an outdoor living space, with an infinity pool, a dressing room, kitchen, dining room and several chilling areas. The quiet is the protagonist of interior spaces, infact there are a couple of relaxing areas where you can admire the view and contemplate the surrounding landscape. Also the three bedrooms of the sleeping area, with their whole height windows, become a intimate and relaxing place where you can enjoy the breathtaking views in the green of mediterranean nature.
The ensemble is completed by two other buildings of smaller dimensions, used as guest house and the small cottage of the housekeeping staff. The first, connected to the main one by a wide staircase, is characterized by simple spaces, managed with awareness and exploited to the fullest.
The living area consist of a small island kitchen, the dining area and relaxing area, while the sleeping area consists of two rooms with a shared bathroom.
The building reserved for the staff, leaning against the covered parking and the technical room is built around a central volume which contains a bathroom, a kitchen and wardrobes.
Throughout the complex, large windows and white resin choice for flooring create the relationship between inside and outside, to search the contact with nature and get as close as possible to the seascape.
Lightness, integration to the site, opening and closing, semplicity, characteristic views and internal organization of space, producing an idea of domesticity that proposes a significant contemporary dwelling to the site.
A desire for harmony and tension, a strong expressive intensity are the elements of ZDA style.
