The second to last night of the “Halo of Blood Over America” tour had it’s final New York stop, to what would prove to be two amazing nights of intense music, and moshing. This tour consisted of the Faroese natives Týr, who delivered a killer set including songs from their new album “Valkyrija”. The NYC crowd joined them proudly as they praised their heathen roots and moshed throughout their set. Up next was the highly awaited Death Angel. Supporting their last album “The Dream calls for Blood” they tore up the venue for a good set of 40 mins. Intense head banging, singing a long and of course moshing were the main ingredients of this rabid set. Finally, the act of the night, the highly praised Children of Bodom, hailing from Finland. Their always loyal fans were there to support the band to the max. As soon as they began playing, crowd surfers began to rain on security, there was no one song that didn’t include a mosh pit, and of course chanting throughout every song could be heard. They played a very intense set that would only be the begin of what was to come the following night for the actual final date of the tour, were they once again tore the venue down.

ABOUT COB:

Over the last twenty years, Finland’s CHILDREN OF BODOM have incorporated many different musical styles into their celebrated sound, leading critics and fans to label them as melodic death metal, power metal, thrash metal, symphonic black metal, and neoclassical metal. Their enthralling mix of melodic hooks and instrumental acrobatics have solidified the band as one of the leading voices of music’s new generation. Formed as Inearthed in 1993, the group is led by superstar frontman / guitarist Alexi ‘Wildchild’ Laiho, who was voted “Best Metal Guitarist” by readers of Guitar World magazine. COB albums are no strangers to debut positions on the American Billboard Top 200 chart and with three consecutive albums debuting at number one on Finnish album charts, they are one of their home country’s bestselling artists of all time with more than 250,000 records sold there alone. Their last studio album, Relentless Reckless Forever, was released in 2011.

Halo Of Blood was recorded at Danger Johnny Studios in Helsinki, Finland with recording engineer Mikko Karmila, who worked on the Hatebreeder (1999), Follow the Reaper (2001), and Hate Crew Deathroll (2003) albums. Producer Peter Tägtgren (Immortal, Marduk, Amon Amarth) oversaw production on both vocals and keyboards. The album was mixed at Finland’s famed Finnvox Studios. Cover artwork was created by artist Sam Saramäki, known for his work on classic COB records such as Follow The Reaper and 2005’s Are You Dead Yet?.

CHILDREN OF BODOM are: Alexi Laiho (guitar, vocals); Roope Latvala (guitar); Jaska Raatikainen (drums); Henkka Seppälä (bass); and Janne Warman (keyboards).
