SICK of looking at that abandoned vehicle or illegal rubbish dump in your neighbourhood – then look at it no more.
Reporting llegal dumping, an abandoned vehicle, a pothole or a water leak is now easier and faster with the help of the council’s mobile phone app – City of Gold Coast.
The app was first launched in July 2013 to report graffiti and has already proved popular with 2,200 downloads and 1,400 logged reports.
New functions recently added to the app include abandoned vehicles and shopping trolleys, water leaks, potholes, illegal dumping, street sweeping, park bins, footpaths, street signs and parking.
Mayor Tom Tate is urging residents who have not yet downloaded the app to do so and use it to report any of the above issues.
“It’s as simple as taking a photo of the abandoned car, or dumped rubbish, or water leak, entering some basic details about it and submitting it,” he said.
“The photo, along with its GPS location, is immediately sent to City of Gold Coast. Once the issue has been reviewed (during normal business hours), we will arrange for the necessary action to be taken.
“When customers submit a report, they will receive real time feedback and the ability to view other public reports logged in the area at the same time.
“This app certainly enables residents to contact us more quickly and helps us with our efforts to create a cleaner, safer city.”
Cr Tate said the next addition to the app was anticipated to be pest management (wild dogs, vermin, mosquitoes) which could be included later this year.
The app is available for iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod) Android and Windows phones.
