The major details of the 2015 Cricket World Cup have been revealed by organisers. It was 23 years ago when Australia last hosted the event and Imran Khan famously lead his Pakistan team to the title at the MCG against England winning by 22 runs. Again, the final will be hosted by Melbourne and the semi-finals catered for by Sydney and Auckland.

There was talk about possibly using the Adelaide Oval or Sydney Olympic Stadium as a semi-final venue but was shelved to keep in tradition with past World Cups held by Australia and New Zealand. The opening fixture will be contested between New Zealand and Sri Lanka in earthquake-stricken Christchurch on February 14. The current world champions India will play the following day in Adelaide against Pakistan.
Australia and New Zealand were both drawn into Pool A and will meet on February 28 in Auckland. Over the 44 days, 49 matches will be played in 14 different cities through February and March of 2015.

Pool B: South Africa, India, Pakistan, West Indies Zimbabwe, Ireland and Qualifier 4
