On our recent trip out west, we visited both Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park.  It was an amazing trip and we did and saw so much over our 8 days in the parks.  Grand Teton National Park is full of wildlife, beautiful lakes and the amazing Teton Mountain Range.  It’s a wonderful vacation spot to unwind and get out in nature with your family.

I am sharing my top 6 things that we did in Grand Teton National Park below.  I previously shared my top 10 things to do in Yellowstone National Park that you can see here.  I also shared my tips for having a wonderful trip during the busy summer season.

Visit Morman Row – Settlers sent from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints arrived in the 1890s to establish new communities east of Blacktail Butte.  They established 27 homesteads in Grovont and clustered their farms to share labor.  Today two picturesque barns are the highlight at Morman Row.  After 30 years of farming, John Moulton built an impressive gambrel barn north of Antelope Flats Road and Thomas Alma (T.A.) built a gable-with-shed style barn which took over 30 years to build.  Morman Row Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.  This was one of my favorite places at Grand Teton National Park.  I loved the beauty of the barns with the Teton Range in the background.

Take a Hike – There are over 200 miles of trails in Grand Teton National Park.  There are trails that are steep and rugged with high elevation, but there are also scenic hikes around lakes.  We hiked Lakeshore Trail at Colter Bay.  It was the perfect trail for our family; level and with two length options 1 or 2 miles.  The trail is along Jackson Lake with many spots to dip your toes in the water, which my daughter loved.

Go out on a Canoe at Jenny Lake – When on vacation, I always enjoy trying something new.  My daughter really wanted to rent a canoe and go out on Jenny Lake.  I wasn’t so sure, because I had never been out in a canoe before.  It was perfect!  We had so much fun (after a small learning curve), the views were amazing and the lake was peaceful.  It is one of our favorite memories from the trip.  You can rent canoes and kayaks from the Boat Dock.

Take the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram to the summit of Rendezvous Mountain – The tram starts in the Teton Village, right outside Grand Teton (elevation 6,311 feet) and climbs 4,139 feet with spectacular views of the Tetons.  While ascending or descending be sure to watch for wildlife.  At the top of the summit, be sure to try Corbet’s Cabin’s delicious freshly-made waffles with your choice of toppings.  If you enjoy hiking the summit has a variety of trails that allow you to explore the mountain.  My daughter loved seeing and touching the snow and throwing snowballs!

Take in the view at Oxbow Bend – It is the most photographed place in Grand Teton National Park.  The view of the Snake River with Mount Moran’s reflection is amazing!

Chapel of the Transfiguration – Built in 1925, the Chapel has a large window behind the altar that frames the Teton Mountain Range.  The Chapel still functions as an Episcopal church and holds services.

Have you been to Grand Teton National Park?  What was your favorite thing that you did?
