Does your child have too many toys?  Are you looking for something that your child will enjoy longer then the newest toy of the season?  I think that S falls into this category this year.  She does not need a lot of toys for Christmas, so I plan on pulling from the list below for non-toy gifts.

Books

S loves books!  We read stories all the time and always before bed.  Her favorite chapter books right now are Judy Moody, Junie B. Jones, The Magic Tree House and Humphrey.

Board Games

Board games make great presents because they promote family time, encourage teamwork and strategy and are just fun!  Some of our favorites right now are the Eye Found It Disney edition, Sorry and Trouble.  I am picking up The Game of Life Junior for this year.

Magazine Subscription

A magazine subscription such as Highlights (one of S’s favorites) is something your child can look forward to all year long.

Memberships

This is a great present for the whole family!  A membership to a local zoo or museum promotes spending time together but also having fun and learning.

Crafty Goodness

S loves crafts!  Her favorites are drawing, painting and scrapbooking.  Encourage your child’s creative side based on their interests.

S has been wanting a scrapbook kit subscription for awhile now, so I plan on getting her one.  I currently receive Studio Calico Documenter kit, however I think she would enjoy the Cocoa Daisy Scrapbook Kit.

Extracurricular Activities

Does your child want to take dance or gymnastics classes?  We all know how expensive those can be!  This would be a great gift for a grandparent to give.  Again it’s a gift that keeps giving all season/year.

Travel

A wonderful way to create family memories together is with a trip.  It could be a big vacation or a short weekend road trip.  Either way spend time together with your family doing something fun.

Did I miss something?  Do you have any suggestions for non-toy gifts this holiday season?
